I was wondering if you could release the Android APK on Itch.
I like to download and manage my games with Mitch https://gardenapple.itch.io/mitch
Edit: I downloaded the game via F-Droid for now but I’m having a problem with my controller. It just doesn’t work, despite the game seemingly having some hints of controller support in the menus.
I’m using the integrated gamepad on the Anbernic RG353P, which I’ve noticed shows up as “Xbox 360 Controller” in games.
This is an Anbernic RG353P running AOSP 12 Beta 1 from https://www.patreon.com/blackseraph
The landscape mode was forced by using a Chinese lsposed module. I tried lots of alternatives, but this is the only one that did exactly what I wanted: https://modules.lsposed.org/module/com.fankes.forcerotate/
I made a short video showcasing the experience of the game in landscape mode on this device, including all the menus. Some of the text is trying to escape the confines of the buttons, but everything is generally quite usable despite the unintended nature of it all.
Thanks so much!
One problem I immediately ran into, I noticed is that my controller isn’t working so I’m stuck with the touchscreen for now.
Another issue I’m having is my device works best in landscape and the game automatically switches to portrait. If I use a hack to force it into landscape, it looks and plays great. The gameplay is slightly altered due to the wider screen, but I like it.
Controller support is working pretty great now, but it would be nice if there was a way to hide the on-screen controls. Perhaps by detecting when a controller is being used and hide them automatically or by a toggle in the settings menu.
I also had great difficulty using the UI editor to move and resize the on-screen controls. Like the zone you have to aim for is so small and it would only resize a little at a time before stopping. Also I would accidentally “reset to defaults” because I’m pressing on the controls as I’m trying to move them around.
Thanks for all your assets. I wanted to note that there is a way to add the license to the metadata which allows users to discover your work through a search like: https://itch.io/game-assets/tag-cc0
No worries, this license stuff is confusing sometimes.
Also I think there’s a way to tag this work with a specific license under the metadata on itch.io, it might make it more discoverable.
For example, you can do a search to see only CC-BY works with https://itch.io/game-assets/assets-cc4-by
Thanks! I know you’re not working on this game right now, but I wanted to share my feedback and first impressions.
I successfully installed the APK via Mitch on my Anbernic RG353P device.
A message pops up on the main menu saying the game won’t run without Google Play services, but after dismissing it runs regardless.
This device has an integrated gamepad which at first didn’t seem to work, but on further experimentation I discovered that the analog stick does work in-game. It’s not perfect, I would prefer to use the d-pad, but it’s better than using the touchscreen.
The game is really fun, it reminds me of some of my favorite games like Open/Super Hexagon and Duet.
I think this game is exactly the kind of hidden gem I was looking for!
