jfc I really love the visual’s style, I really like that simple animated flameyness for the protag’s character portrait/sprite! but man…I don’t think I really understood what’s happening aside from it might be symbolic haha I think it’s a cute detail though when you had to insert your name. I think I managed to get 3 endings…?
Personally I think you adding a different method that the player can do to get the third ending to be a pretty good choice, it’s at least pretty unique and outside what I, as the player, am used to expecting when playing a visual novel game. Though it’s a little bit obscure, it does add the interesting aspect of figuring out what it could mean (as you can tell from my previous message on what I thought it might had meant as I scoured through the game and net for answers LOL).
I really like the build up between Eito and Sen’s relationship, and it makes so much sense for their fast friendship and how quickly Eito took to Sen ’cause of his condition.
regarding gameplay
also regarding the QTE, I really didn't expect it the first time lmao had to scramble for my mouse when suddenly a QTE appeared and I died LOL I like that it's implied in the beginning Sen is a spirit by the fact that you can see the piano ghost's face if you failed the QTE just as he can see Sen's face ;D nice detailI’m definitely finding myself interested in what’s going on in the town, what happened between Eito and his parents, and what’s up with Sen. I look forward to the full game!
I’m so mad LMAO
spoilers about the third ending
Thanks to you I discover what 4'33" is wtf HAHAAHA WHAT THE FUCK FA;SDFL;ASD I THOUGHT LIKE.... THE 4'33" IS SOME HINT FROM A BIBLE VERSE, OR THERE'S A HIDDEN ROUTE I COULD GET FROM 'HISTORY' AT THE LAST DAY AND 33RD LINE/SENTENCE. *NAUR*, IT ISN'TI laughed so hard at Father saying ‘I’ll protect my loved one, myself’ like damn big mood I’d do that for immortality too Father. He’s exercising peak self-love. ;D
very interesting system you placed in for the 3rd ending xD
The artstyle (character and background ) is charming I like it :> I had fun playing this!
Just wanna say first thing that I really love the soundtrack omg it has that really nice mystery old-school-ish video game feeling that I really love from games in that era.
I’m not sure if it’s appropriate for me to say that I’d really like to be able to purchase the soundtrack or smtg to listen to whenever. Do you have a channel or page where you post or sell music? WAITNEVERMIND I JUST SAW YOUR BANDCAMP LOL Do you have plans to release soundtracks for this game then if you don’t mind me asking?
Really love the tone of the game btw. The GUI, layout, and style is quite unique. I really like it. And I like how this case is tied to your previous game, I think I’m gonna check out Undead Air when I have the time :D
Wow, what a ride. I’m kinda typing this as I played the game don’t mind me :’D Interesting premise, I enjoyed it!
I really love this. I think I’m already excited to find another game based on south east asian’s folklore and the kind of phenomenon or spooky stuff we SEA gang (RISE UP!!) are more familiar with.
details/spoilers(?) regarding the game
ngl when I saw the nurse I immediately suspected her to be dead at first, but thought it might be red herring (which was right). and THEN I saw someone's comment about Lia and the nurse hovering around like a ghost which is indicative of where they are, but my dumb ass the whole time thought 'huh, weird they're hovering. they dead? can't be, granny's hovering too. maybe it's for animation sake to show them feeling uneasy f;asd;d the leaps of my logic man.I’m actually unsure if I even manage to get all of the endings, I have a feeling there’s supposed to be a true ending that I’ve missed ‘cause I didn’t play my cards on going to which ward first right :’D
I think it’d be nice if there’s a clear indication in (maybe in the extra or something) what ending or route I have unlocked or yet to unlock.
Anyway, I really love how well the soundtrack, sound effect, character/CG art, and ghost designs has set the tone. You guys did really well with even the scares that isn’t plainly a loud sound effect to force a startle out of you, it’s just a simple animation of the character sprite as they come onto you as the player really close with just the soundtrack and a little bit of the sound effect (nothing screamy and loud) to give you a subtle startle (if that makes sense haha). Since the tone of the game (and in the hospital haha) already gives that uneasy feeling, it definitely delivered in having even simple moments startle you.
I look forward to the longer version of this game, great job! :D
I really love the style, the selected soundtracks invokes such unsettling feelings while I read through the narration. Also, I really did not expected the ending haha. Love the idea of how the child is birthed, it’s like how the other mythology (izanami, izanagi, zeus, etc) depicts birthing another deity. (I kinda expected it to be how the cover art depicts but god damn the actual thing is cool af)
I’m intrigued by the story and what’s to come, god damn the cliffhanger and my bae ;O;
Really love the visuals, soundtrack, GUI, and the writing!! The whole feeling of the visuals and soundtrack matches so well and is my kind of shtick. Some of the characters already have my attention, I like how some of their dialogues are written (like how I find the pompous but lemme-show-care-via-pompous-means Gaspard to be endearing lmao :U).
You guys did an incredible job, I really had a blast playing through Babelomania and look forward to the full game’s release!
damn, at first the visuals put me off (more so ‘cause it’s not my type of style) but upon getting into the story I find that it really fits the theme of the story very well.
The dialogue is very very well written , and very real. The protagonist is infuriating but really realistic in that you do see this kind of people irl. And it’s absolutely infuriating to play from their perspective LOL.
The horror aspect is very interesting to me, and it leaves the interpretation of whether
to put this as vaguely as I can lol (slight spoilers)
the whole thing was even real for the protag and that it only happened mid way, or was he already in it right from the beginning.I’m very intrigued by this game that I might just go check out Matryoshka now LOL. 10/10.
Man… At first I was thrown off and took the happening as partly literal, and spent the whole night thinking about and discussing with my friend about it. I think it’s a very good sign over how good the writing is when it triggers a long discussion and thought about the nuances of the story, I think it’s very interesting how differently a player could take on what’s happening with the protag and her friends based on their own experiences.
I really enjoyed it, also music good! I like that the artstyle went on a slightly different kind from their usual. Y’all really did a great job with Rot in Paradise!
I’m not sure if I’m the only one who had the bug but it seems like when I got to the
(spoilers for act 4)
boss fight with mother, I had to type the protag's dog's name, but its name starts with 'S' which seems to trigger Ren'py's screenshot shortcut key thus couldn't proceed that part at all so I had to drop the game D:Despite that, overall I really love the visual style and how eerie the protag’s mum is. Also, the fox is very adorable <3 I’m just sad I couldn’t seem to nor figure out a way to bypass the roadblock.
Edit: Managed to finish the game, the reason I couldn’t get past in the first place was just ‘cause of my lack of attention LMAO going back to the protag’s mum, using puppet animation on her is a very fitting choice as it gave her an uncanny and eerie motion which adds to the protag’s view of how terrifying she finds her mother to be. Great job!
