This is a great game that i can see myself playing for a long time. Perhaps past the x86 platforms we currently have. Does the Wildermyth team have any ideas about releasing the sources at some point in the (perhaps distant) future? Thanks again for a great game!

The start menu has a cool automated crawler going, I liked that. Also the website links on the menu - very cool.
I liked the look of the plants and the somewhat voxle/rough polygon look of the walls and ramps, its nice art.
But this was a hard game :) Those darn plants get a whack in before I can turn to space-machete them. The fruit is delicious and plentiful, but I need more air!
Edit: Also, thanks for putting your code out on github!
Hi, thanks for taking the time to play! The first decision is choosing a reason for entering - revenge or glory. Revenge: Kill/persuade the Boss. Glory: Kill/persuade 20 monsters and have 100 gold. The ending triggers as soon as the conditions are met. Thanks again for taking the time to play, rate, and comment!
I had fun playing your game! I destroyed all the walls and trees. I made it through the yellow gate, killed a Trex, but got hacked to bits by a big robot! LOL Fun :)
Grenades worked well against a big group.
The linux version worked without a hitch.
There's some fine-tuning to be done around text on the screen running off, and adding some key bindings to show and hide the character stats and items menu.
I think CyberDino incorporated the theme pretty well and you did a good job with sfx and background music which support the gameplay and are not obnoxious.
The little robots reminded by of the Exocomps in Star Trek, which is a good thing!
Thanks for the game!
Glad i read the aboot. Jag tyckte att spelet var roligt att spela. I liked the duality theme. Ljudeffekterna och bilderna stödde spelet. One improvement I'd to see are some dedicated keys for interacting with the (g)round, (m)ap, and (n)avigating. Bra spel, tack för att du är med i tävlingen! (By the way, Översättningar av vårt vänliga globala sökmotorföretag!)
When you find the axe, its very exciting. I felt bad for those peaceful creatures. So is the duality peaceful mobs that let you slaughter them and super tough ninja dudes that slaughter you? I liked that I could dig around some. The guy dying - is that a developer cameo? The mouse felt suuuper sensitive to my input. Fun game! Thanks :)
Probably the only pugs and gnomes you'll fight this jam. Thanks for playing! Here's a bunch of pug memes and puns: https://thesmartcanine.com/pug-jokes/
Thanks! The health boost was completely luck. The chest options are an array: ['gold' , 'sword', 'shield', 'm_attack', 'm_def', 'cha', 'hp', 'hp', 'mp', 'mp'] and you get one of those at random, so a slightly higher change of replenishing your magic or health.
I agree with the forced turn being a bit weird. But a dude walks up to you - you not going to fight (or talk lol)!? I think if i could slew the view a bit, like in Land of Lore or some of the more modern fully-3D games like Grimrock, it would help. Right now everything is pre-rendered, but I'm playing with some ideas to mimick a 3D rotation animation to give a bit better visual cue to the player.
Anyway, thanks for taking the time to try it out, much appreciated :)
I really like the look, runs great on linux. The mini-map is a nice touch. I also like the clear 'roll a 12' on 2d6 scale. I got murdered by an adult black dragon - so that's fun!I wish there was some sound effects and a little exploration music. Overall its a great start and I hope you continue working on it or it's descendants. Thanks!
Hey there! I had a chance to try out this game on Linux using wine, and I must say, the graphics are stunning! I particularly enjoyed the solid step sound effect, though I think it would benefit from some additional ambient sounds in the background. The visual feedback when selecting an attack against a group or individual creature is a really nice touch. Although there's still some room for improvement, I think you're off to a great start! I'd love to see this game fully developed, so keep up the good work!
Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to play this entry! Hopefully this is a ~5 maybe ~10 minute game.
The basic story is that you're entering a jungle temple that has become a bit overrun with bad guys.
In keeping with the duality theme, everything you interact with will give you two options.
There is a 'physical' attack/defense and a 'magic' attack/defense. If you choose to attack with 'sword' you'll get a random damage amount out of your sword array and you will defend with a random amount against the monster's attack with your shield array. (Viewable in the pause/escape menu). Likewise, you can attack / defend with your magic arrays, at the cost of magic.
There's also the option to talk to the monsters and either bribe (costs gold) or charm (uses your charisma).
There are two endings depending on your reason for entering. You can lose by running out of Health.
Good luck, and thanks for delving The Tatterdemalion Temple!
PS: I finally got the windows executable to build (needed a smaller icon), and I will add that to the game page after the judging period (uploads currently disabled).
Hey, uh, dumb question, can you play playdate pdx games on PC?
edit: Looks like you can with the sdk? https://devforum.play.date/t/playdate-sdk-for-linux/628/12
This is a good game. The UI works, the full-screen POV works well and is immersive, the music is great. I like the weird stuff the characters say. Amazing that you can complete this in a week. I ran this on linux + wine and also with the love framework. Very impressive, a massive undertaking for one week's work. Congratulations :)
I played this on linux + wine. It worked very well. I think the movement was very good, tight controls and fluid camera. I liked how the laser would track the target if you move around a lot. There was one monster that cornered me as I came out of an airlock and just rammed me. Almost killed me, but beside that, the combat was fairly easy. A very complete game to have made in 7 days, great job!
