In what way does your game fit the theme?
The security guard and the DJ are "stronger together" because the DJ's beats power up the security guard's attacks, and the security guard protects him to keep the music going. Together, they can make it through the show!
Did you write all the code yourself and made all the assets from scratch?
Yes, all the images, music, and coding in one week

This a fun & nice lookin game, very unique idea! especially for a rhythm game. I envy you, I always want to make a cool rhythm game with interesting idea/gameplay like this :p
I think you can do more with the jump mechanic other than to hop on another platform, like maybe do a jump kick or something, just a suggestion for future development. Great job team!
Thanks for checking it out! Just so you know you can jump kick if you hit the attack button while jumping. Or do a flying kick if you press a direction then attack after jumping. This was mainly for a game jam, though we may make small tweaks once the judging period is over. Thanks again for playing!
Really nice idea and nice graphics. Soooo cute Characters <3
Only Feedback is that the perspective makes it really hard to play and there was too much going on from the start.
All the Best Wilma and Buddy Team
This is a really unique game! Had a blast playing it.
Its a rare find among games in a gamejam
I haven't seen much rhythm games and nor do i like rhythm games much
BUT I LOVED UR GAME i never thought rhythm games can be so fun. The interesting take on the theme really made it a very unique game!
First rhythm game I tried in the jam, very cool.
Love the idea, the theme tie in is not obvious right away but very interesting take on the theme.
The jump to the stage was sometimes clipping and I would not be able to get there but it was a very minor issue to me.
Overall great job.
Very clever rhythm game, haven't seen many of those in this jam! Quite polished with solid graphics and a unique style also, fun game but a little easy. Good job overall!
A very clever take on the rhythm genre of games, I found this to be fun and after a short while, quite intuitive. I wish there was more variation in the hit sound effects so that the confirmation of being on beat wasn't strictly visual and could be derived using the sense you're already tuning to the music. Some death animations would have been nice, but I'm sure this is something that had to be scrapped for time. I also wish the jump kick didn't pop up on hit, making it pretty hard to utilize. Ideally it should come down on the enemies instead.
All in all very clever game with cool graphics and animation. An impressive level of polish too. I'd love to see a more fleshed out version of this after the jam. Great work!
Neat entry! it is very polished and unique I really liked it
The game is well polished. Great job!
Awesome game! I love the concept, and it was really fun to play. It was a bit easy for me, so maybe the difficulty could've ramped up more as it went on, but I loved it! Good work.
Thanks for playing, we're glad you enjoyed it!
Incredible! Great graphics, great mechanincs, amazing music! Very well done! The only thing is the lack of music volume, being a music game i think it is important to have one and maybe a tutorial level or some instructions mesagges. I took some time to undersstand that the hit was with a full red bar and not the green, at first i thougth green is to go, in this case to hit jeje so maybe that migth be a good adition some instructions.
Great game!
(Don't forget to check out mine :D)
Thanks for the feedback, and yes we didn't get around to adjust the volume levels after all the sound effects were placed in due to time. And we maybe should have reversed the bar, though wanted it to look like a standard equalizer and we hoped the white pulse around the attack button would help users know when to attack. But thanks for checking out the game and glad you enjoyed it! Will be sure to rate yours shortly!
One of my favorites so far!
I think this mechanic can be really expanded upon in a 2.5d or 3d fps game. I mean, if you do it I'm gonna buy it.
Snare is attacking, Bass is dodging, hi-hat throwing a shuriken idk, but you get the idea.
I imagine a game where I basically keyboard-drum my way to victory. The combination of a rhythm game and fighting/platformer.
Ghostrunner had a few stages where it was kind of rhythmic and when it was it was a BLAST.
Well done!!
Thanks for the kind words, and I love the ideas! It was definitely a fun mechanic to mess around with.
It was great ! Loved the graphics and the sound design. Unfortunately, for some reason, the music weren't synchronized to the beats in the game, so I couldn't hit at the right time ! :(
And I don't think it comes from my side, my buffer size is low enough and the rest of my audio equipment is working fine.
Aside that, the game looked really polished and I love the concept !
Well done ! :D
Thanks for the feedback Larsen, we added the white pulse animation to show users when the beat kicks in. So the goal is to try to press the attack every other beat/right before the white circle burst appears. Though yes, can use some tweaking to make it more clear. Thanks for checking it out in any case!
I just tested your game, and I beat it twice(the game, because I've beaten the unruly fans way more haha !
I liked the art first , the characters design and the animation , HIGH KICK ! are fun and well done.
Also the music that of courses make you feel the beat. By the way I laughed seeing some of these attackers wearing "peace ☮" tee-shirts haha !
About gameplay it has been a bit too easy for me, I could have hit perfect kick that could one shot any enemy, just waiting next to the DJ and hit them once. It's good that being on the beat is rewarded, and indeed the hits that are not on the beat aren't that much efficient. I know how hard it is to have a rhythm game balanced for everyone, this could be really easy for some and really hard for other.
Also maybe you can add some new mechanics, I was expecting the gameplay to change at some points, like new enemy patterns, or new danger for the DJ, that could force to go of the stage and do some action.
Good idea, art, music, and I hope you had a blast making this game and that my feedback can help you understand the player experience :D
Thanks for checking out the game! Just realizing, you are on the team that made a music-based action game too - great work!
And thanks for the feedback, I agree! We went back and forth with balancing as even some members of our team found it challenging to get the timing down. We also wanted to give ourselves some wiggle room if there was any performance-related lag on the user's machine.
But if you're used to playing rhythm-based games, then yes it will be easy to get the perfect hits. Going with the theme, if you time your punches together with the DJ's beat, your attacks are stronger ( Stronger Together ). But if you going in doing your own thing brawling, then it's more difficult as the attacks are weaker depending on how close are far you were from the beat timing. We also built-in 3 different lose conditions. 1) If the DJ exits the stage, 2) if you have been fighting them off but the DJ was away from the music for too long, or 3) if the track finished but the crowd wasn't happy because there were too many interruptions. If this was a fully flushed product we would add different levels of obstacles, more rounds, beat timing changes mid-song, etc. But overall we did have a blast making this game, and hope your team did too!
Man really loved it! Great art, effects, music and interesting mechanic. My only issue was having the sound effects a bit louder than the music. Other than that it was absolutely amazing! Great job!
Thanks for the kind words! :)
