Researcher, teacher, and activist in the area of inclusive education, disability studies in education (DSE) and policy analysis. She is currently working as a researcher and editor for the Knowledge and Human Development Authority in Dubai (UAE) as a member of the international team for the development of inclusive education policies. Since 2013 she has been an Honorary Research Fellow at the UCL/Institute of Education, University of London, where she took her Ph.D. in 2008. As a lecturer and researcher she is currently collaborating with the Università degli Studi 'Roma Tre', Department of Education within the Research Unit for Disability Studies (Prof. Fabio Bocci). From 2006 to 2013, she has been working for the European Agency for Development in Special Needs Education supporting Agency project work specifically focusing on research and analysis activities. By carrying out projects in inclusive and special needs education in 28 member countries, she has developed a broad knowledge and understanding of the complexity of studying inclusive education and special needs education policies and practice at international, cross-cultural and multi-disciplinary levels. As an independent researcher, she is the leader of a team of researchers working in the area of disability studies in Italy and she is the editor and founder of an online academic journal. As an independent consultant, she regularly participates in various conferences and meetings at an international and national level. A specialized secondary school teacher she has a wide experience in school practice and in teaching learners with disabilities in mainstream settings. She has published extensively in the area of inclusive education and special needs education in English, Italian and French.
