Aims: The present study aimed to identify the factors of social isolation among aged males and females within their families. Study Design: The mixed approach technique was applied in the present research. Place and Duration of Study:The present research was conducted in Multan city of Pakistan from January 2012 to January 2013. Methodology: We selected a panel of 120 respondents (60 males and 60 females) out of 385 respondents by using multi-stage sampling t echnique. Initially, we interviewed 385 respondents by using interview guide and then excluded the inappropriate respondents for the study. Results:The results indicated that lack of money leads toward socialamong aged males (y=6.97+1.007 LM x,P=0.000) and lack of involvement in family issues leads toward social isolation among aged fe males (y=33.803+0.193 LIFI x, P=0.000). This paper presents the bond graph approach as a graphical representation for the dynamic modeling of an exoskeleton actuator system, comprising electrical brushless DC motor, harmonic drive gearbox, torque sensor and human limb. The main purpose of this paper is to show some advantages of the bond graph method in order to model exoskeleton actuator systems for the better understanding of the system dynamics. A block diagram dynamic model of the system is briefly discussed and also for finding the friction model parameters and the friction torque, an experimental test has been carried out. Both the block diagram model and the bond graph model are simulated through MATLAB software and the bond graph simulation software 20-sim. Finally, simulation results in terms of two bond graph effort and flow variables are presented and discussed. The proposed work is generally applicable to extract dynamic model of all kind of wearable robot actuators.

Se presenta el estudio de 1,173 casos de cáncer registrados en dos años y trotados paralelamente con Cobalto 60-Radium y Roentgen-Radium. En ambas modalidades de tratamiento, la dosis y el procedimiento técnico fueron equivalentes. La selección de las pacientes se hizo exclusivamente teniendo en cuenta lo conformación externa de la paciente (las pacientes obesas fueron tratadas obligatoriamente con Cobalto 60) y la disponibilidad de tiempo en la unidad de cobalto. Se ha encontrado que sólo un 75% de las pacientes reciben tratamiento adecuado y completo (el otro porcentaje 110 lo recibe por causas ajenas al departamento) y el 62% de éste (75%) se pierden de vista, es decir, no son controladas a los 5 años. Los resultados terapéuticos sólo pueden ser estudiados y comparados con otros similares y entre sí, teniendo en cuenta las cifras relativas, ya que los resultados absolutos darían una falsa apreciación del valor terapéutico de las radiaciones en sentido desfavorable, pues el contin...

This paper addresses the evaluation of a new disparity map computing algorithm characterized by a novel spurious removal strategy. Using this algorithm we eliminate a high percentage of wrong values with a low performance penalty. When testing images, incorrect percentages were reduced by 65% and 85%. This algorithm has been designed for scalable architectures with massive parallel processing elements. It works line by line with low memory requirements. To evaluate the scalability of the algorithm we have implement it on two different architectures, a GPU and a CPU: The GPU was a NVIDIA GTX260 graphic card using CUDA. The CPU was an Intel Core i7 920 with 4 cores and hyperethreading (8 virtual cores). Our implementation of the algorithm on the CPU was capable of using an arbitrary number of threads. The tests presented in this paper show that the CPU performance scales from 1 to 4 threads with a factor of 0.66, while the speedup when comparing the GPU with the single-threaded CPU solution is between 38 and 47 times. From the power consumption point of view, the GPU is more than ten times more efficient than the CPU.
