Dua gerakan anti-globalisasi yang masih punya stamina tinggi—gerakan kiri dan terorisme—bisa dikatakan tak berhasil menghambat globalisasi neoliberal. Keduanya bak korban patah hati penikmat campursari: menitipkan pesan kegetiran dan lara ati akibat globalisasi, namun tetap saja ditinggal pergi, bahkan mungkin dijogeti.

Our provisional findings on the case show that the hegemony of the North over the South is also perpetuated through political and economic assistance. Through the German political foundation of KAS, Germany seeks to foster a Western "better democracy" in Indonesia through several programs in collaboration with local actors. These "Freedom Agenda '' include training for civil apparatus and legal drafting training for national legislation. The Freedom Agenda carried out by KAS in Indonesia is associated with Germany's pursuit of democracy promotion policy. This study utilizes Neo-Gramscian Approach by Coxian Critical Theory (CCT) to investigate the role of KAS in maintaining the hegemonic order of Western Democracy in Indonesia through Cox's historical structure. Our proposed index will not only contest western inspired Rehman-Askari Global Islamicity Index, but also Maarif Institute Indeks Kota Islami (IKI) of Indonesia which ignored local values in its indicators. Three fundamental concepts of walayah, insaniyyah, and ma’ruf proposed as foundational scaffolding that deduced from primary, secondary, and tertier legal resources in Islam. In first phase, the forementioned three fundamental principles serve as guiding principles to six legal values which will be break down into variables and indicators of the proposed index. The next phase of research elaborate four areas simultaneously; 1) fundamental concepts (metaframework, archetypal model, and ‘urf) namely; walayahinsaniyyah-ma’ruf, 2) six legal values: freedom, justice, balanced relations of God-human-environment, equality, social werlfare, acommodati...

Employing observation, in-depth interviews, and focus group discussion, this qualitative research tried to understand discourses on extremism and intolerance, actors and their networks, and early detection in youth. The findings of this study indicated that even regions perceived as having moderate religious culture were not immune to the spread of extremist ideology and acts of intolerance. Three discourses; “others”, “thaghut”, and “the legitimate use of violence”, were produced to build intolerant narratives in the public sphere, namely hatred towards Christians, Shia Muslims and minorities, the incompatibility of Pancasila and democracy with Islam, the adoption of Sharia law, and the legitimate use of violence for ordering good and prohibiting evil (amar ma’ruf nahi munkar). Their network was activated through out-of-town people who infiltrated moderate...

This hegemonic and widely held public opinion is more often used to justify the behavior of the Indonesian Government in West Papua. This research aims to offer an alternative perspective on the matter by looking at the narrative promoted and written by Free West Papua Campaign (FWPC) on their news reports about the Nduga Conflict in 2018-2019 from their website: freewestpapua.org. Norman Fairclough's critical discourse analysis examines the discourse created from the news coverage within the three-dimensional analysis, namely the textual, the discourse practices, and sociocultural dimensions. Results show that FWPC depicts Indonesia's military as exploiters of the indigenous Papuans. At the same time, FWPC also tries to build a sense of belonging to gain support from the international society and online activists.
