Ton Haans
Anthony (Ton) Haans, 1943, The Netherlands. His mother was Flemish, his father was born Dutch.He spent his pre-school years alternately in the Netherlands and Belgium, his school years and professional activities were limited to the Netherlands. After his training as a schoolteacher he studied clinical psychology (University of Nijmegen) and psychotherapy. From 1976 to 2003 he was attached to Centrum '45, the national institution for the treatment of politically traumatised people, veterans and refugees. Together with Johan Lansen he developed a training programme for intercultural trauma supervisors, which has been organised since 2005 by the Behandlungszentrum für Folteropfer in Berlin under the leadership of Nora Balke.After his retirement he works for various NGOs in post-war areas. He provides training and supervision for local aid workers to traumatised fellow citizens. He has published in various journals and books on intercultural psychotrauma treatment, group therapy and supervision.
