Terminological counselling is ad hoc terminology work that provides the terminology user with a relatively quick and credible answer to a terminological question. In this article, we present the Terminological Counselling Service offered by the Terminology Section of the ZRC SAZU Fran Ramovš Institute of the Slovenian Language since 2013. Through a web form, users submit a question, which is answered by five terminologists in a joint opinion. For this article, all 75 questions received by the Terminological Counselling Service in 2020 were examined. They were analysed in terms of the subject fields in which the users have terminological problems, the institutions the users are affiliated with, and the content of the questions. We believe that the Terminological Counselling Service plays an important role, as the number of users is increasing year by year.

Terminolo{ka intervencija ni povsem uspela, saj ni upo{teval terminolo{kega dogovora, ki je v terminologiji zelo pomemben. terminologija, jezikovnokulturno na~elo, terminologija slovenskega izvora, prevzeta ter-minologija, terminolo{ka intervencija The article deals with the principle of language culture, according to which terminology of Slovene origin has precedence over borrowed terminology. We presentJòe Topori{i~'s attempt to replace some already established terms from the field of terminology (terminology, term, terminological dictionary) with terms of Slovene origin. This termino...

V ~lanku smo analizirali ~asovno zaznamovane termine v sodobnih slovenskih terminolo{kih slovarjih. Ugotovili smo, da ~asovni ozna~evalniki starinsko, zgodovinsko, prej, nekdaj zaradi svoje pomanjkljive obvestilnosti za terminolo{ke slovarje niso funkcionalni. Koristna pa je uporaba ozna~e-valnika zastarelo, ki usmerja od nedavno zastarelega poimenovanja k veljavnemu, in uporaba pojasnil, ki pojem natan~neje ~asovno opredelijo in tako smiselno dopolnijo definicijo. terminologija, terminolo{ki slovar, ~asovno zaznamovani termin, ozna~evalnik, pojasnilo In this paper, we analysed temporally marked terms in contemporary Slovene terminological dictionaries. We found that the labels starinsko, zgodovinsko, prej, nekdaj are not functional here because of their lack of informativeness. On the other hand, it is appropriate to use the label zastarelo, which directs the user from the recently outdated term to the contemporary one, and the use of notes that more precisely define the concept in...

Pri svojem delu upo{tevamo pojmovni vidik terminologije, zaradi ~esar intenzivno sodelujemo s strokovnjaki. Terminolo{ko delo obsega ve~ faz: zbiranje gradiva, izdelavo korpusa in geslov-nika, oblikovanje slovarskih sestavkov in pripravo na izdajo slovarja. terminologija, terminolo{ki slovar, pojem, pojmovni sistem, strokovnjak In this paper, we present an approach to compiling terminological dictionaries used at the Terminological Section of the Fran Ramov{ Institute of the Slovene Language ZRC SAZU. In our work, we consider the conceptual aspect of terminology and so we have to cooperate closely with subject experts. Terminology work comprises several phases: collection of specialised texts, building of a corpus a...

In this article, we analyzed abbreviations in terminology, in particular their presentation in terminological dictionaries. Abbreviations are the most common shortened forms of terms in the dictionaries reviewed; other shortened forms are abbreviations with full stops and symbols. The number of abbreviations in terminological dictionaries is relatively small in absolute terms. The dictionary that stands out based on the quantity of abbreviations is the Farmacevtski terminoloski slovar: 2., dopolnjena in pregledana izdaja (Pharmaceutical terminological dictionary, 2nd edition ). The analysis shows that abbreviations in the dictionaries reviewed are mostly formed from English and Slovenian terms. There are more abbreviations from English terms than from Slovenian terms in absolute number; however, a more detailed analysis shows that the origin of abbreviations depends a great deal on the field of expertise.

This paper presents the results of a study involving experts from two domains—control engineering and teaching the visually impaired—that read specialized texts in their respective disciplines and underlined terms. We were interested in the degree of consensus on underlined units in the two groups. It was very similar (84% and 85%, respectively) when the criterion for terminology was the consensus of more than twothirds of the experts, and 67% and 68% when the criterion was the consensus of more than three-quarters of the experts. The results indicate that experts perceive terms as mostly stable units. The paper also discusses cases of linguistic units that the experts were unable to agree on.
