The RSYST calculational sequences for generation of NPP Krsko group constants have been establish... more The RSYST calculational sequences for generation of NPP Krsko group constants have been established as the first phase results of bilateral project between Germany and Croatia on improvements of in-core fuel management calculational capabilities. The obtained cross sections based on 1-D cell models have been checked by comparison of NPP Krsko global core calculation using these group constants with reference results. The comparison showed the adequacy of the established RSYST calculational sequences to generate cross sections for scoping in-core fuel management and safety calculations. In the next phase of the project we intend to use the RSYST calculational sequences based on 2-D assembly calculations to obtain group constants suitable for design in-core fuel management and safety calculations.
Depletion modeling of fuel assembly with different integral fuel burnable absorber loadings conta... more Depletion modeling of fuel assembly with different integral fuel burnable absorber loadings containing enriched boron has been performed by WIMSD transport code. Equivalent boron concentration that represents depletion of the integral fuel burnable absorbers containing enriched boron has been calculated using modified PSU/LEOPARD code. The calculated equivalent boron concentrations have been introduced into FUMACS computer code package master files, upgrading the code package with new global calculation feature for core modeling with different integral fuel burnable absorber loadings containing enriched boron. This new feature of FUMACS/FEEC2001 code package has been verified and validated on 12-month and 18-month operating cycle core loading patterns of NPP Krško.

The usual approach to loading pattern optimization involves high degree of engineering judgment, ... more The usual approach to loading pattern optimization involves high degree of engineering judgment, a set of heuristic rules, an optimization algorithm, and a computer code used for evaluating proposed loading patterns. The speed of the optimization process is highly dependent on the computer code used for the evaluation. In this paper, we investigate the applicability of a machine learning model which could be used for fast loading pattern evaluation. We employ a recently introduced machine learning technique, support vector regression (SVR), which is a data driven, kernel based, nonlinear modeling paradigm, in which model parameters are automatically determined by solving a quadratic optimization problem. The main objective of the work reported in this paper was to evaluate the possibility of applying SVR method for reactor core loading pattern modeling. We illustrate the performance of the solution and discuss its applicability, that is, complexity, speed, and accuracy.
