ABSTRACT: Marital satisfaction is a pertinent ingredient to the stability of any nation, given that the family is the basic unit of any nation. Too much marital dissatisfaction leads to family members being unstable socially which trickles down to societal problems hence to the nation. A higher level of satisfaction is seen as a measure of marital success. It is, therefore, important to study correlates of marital satisfaction in order to determine what variables could potentially predict the outcome of marital satisfaction. The purpose of this study therefore seeks to establish the correlates between levels of education in relation to marital satisfaction. Literature on the objective above was reviewed. The researcher employed a cross sectional survey design to examine the theme of study. The descriptive study was conducted among 4,019 spouses by using a quest...

These plans are to be realized through “Vision 2030”. To achieve these goals, Kenya requires gender mainstreamed team of highly skilled workers with competency in administration and strategic management. Kenya has to prepare at least twice as many women graduates with administration and management background to match the male counterparts even in the stipulated 1/3 ratio. Globally, women experience many challenges in ascending to top management positions especially in institutions of higher learning. This is despite endless calls and legislations to push for gender equity in appointments to both junior and top management positions in all departments of our institutions. This study aimed to determine the influence of organizational culture on women ascending to top management positions, ...

Descriptive, correlation and cross sectional research designs were using structural questionnaire and interview guide were used as research instruments. Data was analyzed using both descriptive (frequency, percentage, mean and standard deviation) and Pearson correlation and multi-regression analysis. Based on a 5-likert scale measure, it was found that, premarital counseling was assessed as high (grand mean = 3.49. std. = 1.12) and marital conflict (grand mean =3.60. std. = 1.15) was also high. Premarital counseling and marital conflict among Christian couples were significantly associated (r=-0.310. p 0.035). Dimensions of premarital counseling communication (b = -...

Most of the studies are conducted in the west. A few studies done in Kenya have focused on older adults’ abuse and vulnerability. Furthermore, these studies have used younger populations, thus lack self-reporting by the older adults themselves. The current study sought to determine the level of subjective well-being of older adults and how data related to the population and within groups influence the subjective well-being of older adults. Data was collected from person (n=140, >65yrs) participating in the older person’s cash transfer programme that serves the non-pensionable and aged Kenyans living in Kajulu ward, Kisumu County. Establishing a link between the big five personality and involvement in violence could be useful in developing various personality based interventions to involvement in violence. This prompted the present study to investigate both qualitative and quantitative relationship between the big five personality and involvement in violence. The convergent parallel mixed method research design was used. A multistage random sampling was used to generate a sampling size of 418 students. A part from the students, teacher counselors and deputy head teachers were also interviewed in order to triangulate the sources of information. Both self report questionnaires and interview schedules were used to collect data. The results indicated that extraversion and neuroticism were positively correlated to violence at correlation coefficients r = 0.155 and r = 0.102 respectively. While agreeableness, conscientiousness and openness were negatively correlated to violence at correlation coefficients r =-0.101, r =-0.425 and r =-0.187 respectively. This implied that as the extroversive and neurotic tendencies rose, the levels of involvement in violence also rose in the population. Conversely as the agreeable, conscientious and openness tendencies rose, the levels of involvement in violence reduced significantly. Therefore to minimize involvement in violence, more interventional measures should be applied to people who display more of extraversion and neuroticism.

Recent research suggests that the ability to adjust quickly plays a key role in the transition process. This is even more important today given the tough labor market realities such as exacerbated unemployment levels and global competitions for the few available job openings. Yet new graduates often lack experience and certain skills that employers look for. Those unable to maneuver through the School-To-Work Transition (STWT) quickly may experience further challenges in their career development process. Using a sample of 516 students in their final semester of their university studies in Ugandan and Kenya, the present study examines the role of psychological resources, namely psychological capital and the mechanisms (i.e. Career Engagement - CE, Perceived Employability - PE) through which it works to affect students’ readiness for STWT as well as positively evaluating their career success.
