Abstract: Pectinases are one of the upcoming enzymes of fruit and textile industries. These enzymes break down complex polysaccharides of plant tissues into simpler molecules like galacturonic acids. The role of acidic pectinases in bringing down the cloudiness and bitterness of fruit juices is well established. Recently, there have been a good number of reports on the application of alkaline pectinases in the textile industry for the retting and degumming of fiber crops, production of good quality paper, fermentation of coffee and tea, oil extractions and treatment of pectic waste water. This review discusses various types of Pectinases and their applications in the commercial sector.

ABSTRACT: Nanoscale Silver and Iron particles have biological applications because of their unique properties, as antimicrobial activity. The aim of the work was to test effects of Silver and Iron nanoparticles from Spinacia oleracea using suggested bacterial colonies. We performed biosafety and biocompatibility tests for Nanoparticles and conjugate with Spinacia oleracea. UV-visible spectroscopy is important technique for analyzing the formation of silver and iron nanoparticles in aqueous solution AgNPs and iron has free electron, which gives rise to plasma resonance absorption band, due combined vibration of metal nanoparticles in resonance with the light wave. The presence of the elemental silver and iron can be seen in the graph presented by EDX, which indicates the reduction of silver ions to elemental silver and iron ions to elemental iron ions. Screening of ethanolic extracts of Spinacia oleracea resulted in moderate antibacterial activities against different bacteria. The si...

Utilization of waste materials and industrial by-products is a sustainable solution to environmental and ecological problems. Use of such materials makes their reutilization in cement, concrete and other construction materials, and also reduces the cost of cement and concrete manufacturing. Other indirect benefits include reduction in landfill cost, energy saving and reduction in solid waste. Electronic waste (e-waste) consists of discarded refrigerators, radios, TVs, Air conditioners, Mobile phones, computers and several other electronic gadgets that have reached their end of life or become obsolete. Efforts are being made in the construction industry to use nonbiodegradable components of e-waste as a partial replacement of the coarse or fine aggregates in concrete. This study focuses on the utilization of e-waste plastic particles in concrete and tests the feasibility of utilizing shredded e-plastic particles as partial replacement of coarse aggregate. It was observed that when e-...

Kitchen waste (food waste) collected from hostels and canteen has high calorific and rich nutritive value to microbes due to which efficiency of methane production can be enhanced. Biogas (Green energy) as an energy source is cost effective and generates a high-quality renewable fuel. Biogas contains around 55-65% of methane, 30- 40% of carbon dioxide. Methane has a calorific value of 10 kWh/Nm3. Under anaerobic digestion the organic content is reduced, cow dung slurry along with the kitchen waste is used in the bioreactor as inoculum. The digested slurry is produced at the end of this process is used as a bio fertilizer. In this paper anaerobic digestion, biogas production and challenges for management of kitchen waste and usage of biogas as alternative to kerosene or LPG has been discussed.

Aspergillus foetidus MTCC 10367 associated with industrial fruit waste sample from Galla food processing industry, Chittoor District, Andhra Pradesh, was isolated and identified using standard microbiological method (serial dilution-spread plate technique). This fungal isolate was screened for hydrolytic and depolymerising multiple enzymes of industrial importance. Many enzymes such as Pectinases, Cellulases, Proteases, Phytases and Amylases produced by Aspergillus foetidus have relevant biotechnological applications in several industrial areas. This study revealed the ability of Aspergillus foetidus to produce varieties of hydrolytic enzymes and provides additional information to support future research about industrial potential of Aspergillus foetidus MTCC 10367.
