Mbuvi calls upon African biblical scholars to challenge these entrenched approaches, advocating for the development of more inclusive methodologies that authentically represent Africa's diverse perspectives.

The books of 1 Enoch, Jubilees, Ascension of Isaiah, the Epistula Apostolorum, and the Apocalypse... more The books of 1 Enoch, Jubilees, Ascension of Isaiah, the Epistula Apostolorum, and the Apocalypse of Peter are preserved in full in Ge'ez, the classical language of Ethiopia. This demonstrates the high reverence for these writings within the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (EOTC). Among them, 1 Enoch and Jubilees hold canonical status within the EOTC. These texts are commonly classified as Old Testament pseudepigrapha and New Testament apocrypha. In the EOTC, the concept of canonicity is looser compared to other churches. Generally, the EOTC canon consists of eighty-one books, although variations exist in manuscripts and printed texts.

The spread of Christianity is related to the translation of the Bible into various local languages. Aloo Osotsi Mojola, a professor of philosophy and translation studies, has worked for the United Bible Society in Kenya as a Bible translation consultant for the past four decades. God Speaks My Language tells the story of individuals and organizations involved in Bible translation in East African countries: Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Burundi. Dealing with linguistically different countries is not a simple task. However, the author's expertise in dealing with a variety of languages and cultures strengthens his writing.

First Enoch was originally written in Aramaic and later translated into Ge‘ez (or “Ethiopic”) from the Greek translation between the fourth and sixth centuries CE. The full text of 1 Enoch is preserved only in Ge‘ez, thus making it important for the EOTC

Towards this end we utilized the narrative model proposed by David Herman and were able to identify four conditions of narrativity. We were able to note that the interpreter places the elements of the biblical discourse to re-tell the story from within the situation in which the Andǝmta was written. We also identified the sequencing of events in narrative form, in the introductory parts of the Andǝmta, and the development of conflict disrupting the narrative world. Finally we showed the presence of a protagonist and an antagonist which allow the reader to enter into the experience of the characters. In light of these preliminary findings we conclude a narrative analysis of the Andǝmta interpretations will enable to understand the Andǝmta as a literary product in its own right.

Ultimately, all three issues are interconnected.
The mini-dissertation is divided into six chapters. The first chapter discusses background issues related to the mini-dissertation. Chapter two highlights the methodologies employed in the study. Chapter three briefly presents the history of Gə’əz and Amharic Bible translations. Chapter four discusses the Millennium Amharic Translation in light of Descriptive Translation Studies (DTS). Chapter five discusses the issue of biblical canon in relation to the Millennium Amharic Translation, and the final chapter provides the conclusion.

This study provides an introduction for Pastoral Epistles in Gə’əz and their andəmta commentary tradition. Variant readings are placed in an extensive text-critical apparatus. The text of the Bible edition is based on Milan, Biblioteca Ambrosiana, Pentaglot B. 20 inf. and YäQəddus P̣awlos Mäṣḥf by Liqä Liqwənt Mäḥari Tərfä for the andəmta, which is a printed text.
