In the Italian peninsula, beekeeping reached its highest levels during the
Roman era, and then fall into oblivion for a very long time period. We can
see how beekeeping in Italy as in the rest of the world, has always been
strictly linked to the great historical periods and to the its important events
both positive and negative.

Nella penisola Italiana, l'apicoltura giunse i suoi maggiori livelli durante
l'epoca romana, per poi cadere nel dimenticatoio per un lunghissimo
periodo. Possiamo notare come l'apicoltura in Italia come nel resto del
mondo, è sempre stata prettamente legata ai grandi periodi storici ed ai
suoi importanti avvenimenti sia positivi sia negativi.

Un articolo estratto dalla mia tesi di Laurea. Un introduzione alla simbologia dell’ape e del miele in Età Classica nel mondo Greco, simbolo di vita e di morte, ma anche di rinascita, il miele e le api hanno da sempre accompagnato l’uomo nel suo lavorare in gruppo come fanno appunto le api nell’arnia.
