Lungo Petrolio si trovano numerosi commenti di Pasolini in merito alla forma pensata per la sua f... more Lungo Petrolio si trovano numerosi commenti di Pasolini in merito alla forma pensata per la sua futura summa: non un romanzo, ma una forma, un soggetto con proprie leggi autosufficienti, privo di concordanze con la «pericolosa» realtà esterna. Concentrandomi su passi scelti di Petrolio e su alcuni appunti di Pasolini, nel presente lavoro mostrerò le possibili contraddizioni di tale progetto formale. Partendo dal concetto di riflessività proposto da Genovese, per poi approfondire la dinamica di ‘testualità bulimica’ (Altamura), mi occuperò di cercare alternative e soluzioni testuali alle contraddizioni sorte dall’idea pasoliniana di un’autosufficienza formale. Grazie a una lettura di Petrolio attraverso I Passages di Benjamin, evidenzierò la profonda carica metaforica degli elementi formali che caratterizzano Petrolio.
In Petrolio Pasolini reflects on the form of his future work. According to his author, Petrolio was not conceived as a novel, but as a form with its own self-supporting laws, with which Pasolini did not want to explicitly refer to the extern reality. Focussing on selected passages of Petrolio as well as on some Pasolini’s notes, in this paper I will show the possible contradictions of this formal project. In order to look for alternatives and textual solutions to the contradictions connected to the Pasolinian idea of a self-managing form, I will firstly analyse the concept of reflexivity (Genovese), secondly the process of textual bulimia (Altamura). Analysing Petrolio through the Benjamin’s Arcades Project, I will highlight the metaphorical potential of the formal aspects that characterize Petrolio.
Petrolio, l’opera postuma e frammentaria di Pier Paolo Pasolini, pubblicata nel 1992, fu definita... more Petrolio, l’opera postuma e frammentaria di Pier Paolo Pasolini, pubblicata nel 1992, fu definita dal suo stesso autore come un’opera diversa dai romanzi comuni, che si sarebbe contraddistinta sia per la varietas di registri e di materiali che l’avrebbero composta sia per la forte presenza dell’autore-narratore. La mia ipotesi è che questi aspetti formali siano i sintomi e i segnali di un piú ampio interesse, che seguì Pasolini sin dagli anni delle poesie friulane, e che trova la sua piú grande tematizzazione nella sua opera piú recente, Petrolio, definita come il “preambolo di un testamento.” Gli aspetti formali che analizzerò non si limitano, a mio avviso, a fungere da ornamenti stilistici all’interno di quest’opera; essi significano, compiono a pieno la funzione della metafora, la quale, come ha proposto Ricoeur, non implica un semplice “veder-come” ma si affaccia alla dimensione ontologica dell’“esser-come.” Con l’ipotesi di una sovrapposizione di queste due dimensioni, dimostrerò come le caratteristiche formali e stilistiche di Petrolio portino ad una temporalità composita e diversa, lascino trasparire un diverso modo di pensare il tempo e, indirettamente chiedano, con le parole di Sant’Agostino: “quid est enim tempus?”

He has often used a «sociological» terminology, in spite of being first of all a poet. My purpose is to deal with the Pasolinian criticism of development not only analysing his articles, but also looking for its traces in stylistical and poetological aspects of his most recent literary works, such as Petrolio and La Divina Mimesis. In the first part of the article I will deal with the central topics of Scritti Corsari and Lettere Luterane, in the second one I will focus on «la forma progressiva e magmatica della realtà». I assume that in this way it will be possible to deal with the topic of development and progress from a new point of view that will show not only the Pasolinian conception of progress, but also the relation of the Pasolinian works with the time, with his time.

In this essay I will analyse the topic of time and temporality in some of Pasolini’s works. The s... more In this essay I will analyse the topic of time and temporality in some of Pasolini’s works. The starting point of my analysis will be the assumption that the recurring presence of the topic of time is the sign of Pasolini’s attention to time and of his questioning the ways of representing it. As a consequence, several representations, consciousness and perceptions of time can be found in his writing. I will first do a close reading of I Godoari of Petrolio. This group of Appunti will then give the impetus for a comparison with the Benjaminian concepts of Jetztzeit and Ursprung that I will highlight through some passages from the geschichtsphilosophischen Thesen and Das Passagen-Werk. In the third part of my essay I will explore Pasolini’s aversion of Hegel and I will compare some passages of Petrolio, some poems and some interviews to Pasolini with some passages of the Wissenschaft der Logik and of the Phänomenologie. These two comparisons, focused on language and temporal images and concepts, will give a sense of the Pasolinian temporality, showing its compounded complexity.
