Both sexes are quite short-lived, and become sexually mature at a relatively small size. The reproductive cycle of A. sagrei in Taiwan is cyclic, but long, and allows these lizards to build up fairly large populations in a relatively short period of time. Anolis sagrei is a trunk-ground species that preys on a wide variety of prey types, of which aranids, coleopterans, dipterans, hemipterans, hymenopterans, isopterans, lepidopterans, and orthopterans are the most commonly recorded prey. Large males can be saurophagous, and may be cannibalistic. The results from enclosure experiments found that predation of A. sagrei significantly impacted diversity and abundance of terrestrial arthropods, and that it can significantly alter the community structure of ants. The ongoing research on this species in Taiwan, indica...
