Based on a massive database of more than 5000 Italian-set films from 1988 to 2016, this paper explores the geography of Italian set locations and their related cinematic landscapes. In order to achieve this goal, the study proceeds in two phases. First, the paper identifies the concentrations of set locations (filmogenic spots) overall and by genre in particular areas through spatial analysis tools. Second, it presents a qualitative analysis of the representation of selected locations, underlining the different roles played by the landscape in film narratives. By using an integrated quali-quantitative perspective, the paper offers an analysis that combines the spatial and the representational dimensions of Italian set locations over a wide area for a long period.

It is now the main element supporting global commodity and more generally supply chains. Yet the lack of seamlessness and inefficiencies in general as well as the rising costs and complexities of shipping and delivering goods are adding to profit pressures faced by manufacturers across the globe. Our paper first discusses the concept of seamlessness, and then examines some of the consequences of the lack of seamlessness in terms of freight transport inefficiencies. We then begin to examine the new developments in which intermodality, technology (e-commerce), and logistics are changing and will have the impact of heightening competitive advantage and reducing constraint points in production value chains and global production networks. Finally the intent is to show how research on this theme might be advanced in a trans-Atlantic framework. (A)

The paper explores people's affective responses to different urban environments by means of a mobile crowdsourcing approach (EmoMap, developed by Vienna University of Technology in 2014). The approach has been applied in Vienna and Siena. The first case study has collected emotions in three distinctive urban environments according to different levels of traffic and vegetation in Vienna; the second show case indentifies emotional stimulators in Siena and different levels of comfort and discomfort. The results show how volunteered geographic information may provide a better understanding of human-environment interaction and the relationship between emotions and the subjective dimension of urban quality of life.

Academia has always been the cradle of innovation, theoretical debates and practical experimentation. However, its mission is also to discern truth, impart knowledge, skills and values and prepare responsible citizens and competent workers who will contribute to an improving world. Recently, colleges, universities and networks of different kinds (e.g. SDSN, IAU, WEEC, etc.) have developed educational initiatives which represent a wealth of sources of innovation in sustainability. The paper aims to identify methodologies, tools and learning processes in order to highlight the strengths and weaknesses of the ongoing initiatives taken into consideration. The paper highlights evidence, practices and policies by investigating recent literature on the topic (literature review and state of the art) and subjects and methods used in HE sustainability education in face-to-face traditional classroom environment (trends in HE sustainability education) and in an open online environment, namely MOOCs (Massive Online Open Courses). The outcomes of the paper will contribute to the suggestion of future scenarios for the improvement of sustainability in HE and for the educational transformation that is required in order to create a sustainable future

At that point, rudimentary crowdsourced Geographic Information (GI) was created and disseminated freely with the help of innovative desktop applications (e.g. Google Earth) or web-based platforms (e.g. Wikimapia, OpenStreetMap). By crowdsourcing we refer to the action of multiple participants (sometimes thousands or even millions) in the generation of geographical information, when these participants are external to the organization that manages the information and are not formally employed by it. Since then a lot has changed and VGI now has a deep and broad agenda that ranges from implicitly contributed GI through social networks to rigorously-monitored citizen scie...
