The distribution of this species in Poland was described and the numbers of existing populations were estimated. The habitats were described in detail and the status of the species in the Polish flora was discussed.

The main purpose of the present study is to update the list of mountain species for the Silesian Uplands and to provide a synthesis of the knowledge accumulated to date on the habitats for their occurrence, a possible origin and their distribution patterns. In the present study, both the authors. own records and those obtained by other researchers have been used: published, unpublished and herbarium records, and assembled in a form compatible with the Atlas of distribution of vascular plants in Poland (ATPOL) in the ATPOL.Silesia database). A list of mountain species present in the study region (approximately 4000 km2) is provided in relation to their altitudinal groups. For each species, information about its affiliation to geographical elements and the type of habitats in which it has occurred is recorded. The distribution of mountain species in the Silesian Uplands ...

The aim of the study was: (i) to examine the level of genetic diversity in selected populations of Fallopia taxa (Poland, Hungary, Ukraine, Slovakia, Japan) in relation to taxon constitution, (ii) to evaluate the number and chromosomal location of rDNA loci, and (iii) to establish genome size and ploidy level in the knotweed species. The results showed the presence of genetic diversity within all taxa, including genetic diversity between individuals of F. japonica, in populations from Poland; variation in ploidy among individuals of F. japonica and within hybrids was confirmed. Among F. japonica individuals octoploids (2n=88; 2C=8.48pg) were the ones which dominated while hexaploids (2n=66; 2C=6.51pg) dominated within F. bohemica plants. All individuals of F. sachalinensis we...

The aim of the study was to build a research platform for monitoring the current state of research on A. artemisiifolia allowing the analysis of its present distribution, seed germination, genetic and cytogenetic diversity, the influx of ragweed pollen from neighboring countries and the estimation of the threat of ragweed allergens in the Polish population. Our results show that in recent years, a rapid increase in number of new stands has been already recorded. Results on the biology of sexual reproduction showed that A. artemisiifolia produces viable seeds and that seed stratification is necessary to increase the ability to germinate and tolerate salinity. Genetic studies revealed high level of polymorphism among individuals in A. artemisiifolia populations, which might be the result of multiple sources of introduction and is possibly crucial in their invasive success. Within the chromosome complem...

Floristic research for this flora was carried out from 1995 to 2010. A total of 511 species were recorded in Czeladź. Floristic list describing some ecological features was provided along with 511 species distribution maps. A list of protected, rare and endangered species occurring within the city was given along with the estimation of population dynamics for each species. Regions within the city valuable for their unique flora were described in details. Some protection recommendations for these areas were given as well. The book contains general introduction and some chapters for non-specialists (“botany laypersons”) in order to enable them to use the flora in their excursions within the city. Numerous color illustrations enable the reader to determine some species using this book.
