    Lean Manufacturing methods are used by industries that seek to improve their competitiveness through flexibility, cost reduction, product quality improvements and customer satisfaction. Still, the level of complexity and demand in the manufacturing industry is rapidly expanding, intensifying organizational problems. Industry 4.0 systematically employs state-of-the-art technological solutions, unlike Lean Manufacturing, which is firmly based on the human factor. With a qualitative approach, this study aims to explore the synergistic aspects between Lean Manufacturing and Industry 4.0 in an integrative review. The searches were carried out in the following databases: Web of Science, Scopus, Science Direct and IEEE, totaling 552 articles, of which 19 were selected after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria.     Durante o processo de Agendamento de Cirurgias, há necessidade de solicitação de materiais e embarques, pois os envolvidos são empresas fornecedoras, bem como confirmação e entendimento do que foi solicitado. A falta de um item pode levar ao cancelamento, ocasionando um reagendamento, uma nova alocação da equipe cirúrgica. O problema levantado continua na inconveniência ao paciente, ao hospital e ao plano de saúde, pois há necessidade constante de nova liberação para cirurgia. O estudo de processo analisado refere-se a cirurgias ortopédicas eletivas (agendadas). Nesse contexto, estudam-se os conceitos da Lógica Eτ para a tomada de decisão no problema da Agenda de Cirurgia Ortopédica Eletiva, principalmente porque no cancelamento por falta de instrumental e material consignado, são tomadas medidas antes de anestesiar o paciente.     Automation, and Robotics have experienced incredible improvements over the past decades. Due to the high sophistication more and more elaborated logical tool became necessary to overcome what classical logic offers. In this work, it is shown how a new class of non-classical logics, namely paraconsistent annotated evidential logic Eτ, can be used to deal situations where the presence of conflicting, diffuse and paracomplete must be treated in a non-trivial way. Our purpose is to show its usefulness through examples that have been successfully applied.

    Broiler meat is one of the most consumed meats worldwide. The broiler production system poses several challenges for the producer, including maintaining environmental conditions for rearing. The popularization of mobile devices (smartphones) among people, including those with lower incomes, makes it possible for specialist systems to be developed and used for diverse purposes through Apps (mobile application). The present study proposed the development of a mobile application to help farmers follow up on-farm flock management. We retrieved rearing environment and flock data from commercial broiler farms that complied with broiler-producing standards and followed the breeders’ recommendations.     Resumo Neste trabalho apresentamos um estudo sobre tomada de decisão, enfocado como uma aplicação do algoritmo para-analisador e baseado em uma nova classe de lógicas não-clássicas-as lógicas paraconsistentes anotadas. Tais lógicas conseguem manipular em seu interior dados incertos, contraditórios ou paracompletos, sem se tornar trivial. A lógica paraconsistente anotada (LPA) tem sido aplicada em Ciência da Computação, Robótica, Inteligência Artificial etc. (ABE, 1997). Como exemplo de aplicação desse estudo, mostramos como é feita uma tomada de decisão pelo dispositivo para-analisador na área de Engenharia de Produção. EVALPSN) has been developed for dealing with defeasible deontic reasoning and plausible reasoning, and also applied to various kinds of intelligent safety verification and control. Moreover, in order to deal with before-after relation between processes (time intervals), another EVALPSN called bf(before-after)-EVALPSN has been developed recently. In this paper, we review the reasoning system for before-after relation between processes based on bf-EVALPSN and introduce how to apply the reasoning system to real-time pipeline process order safety verification and control with an example.

    This paper presents a computational method based on non-classical logic dedicated to routing management and information stream control in communication networks. Paraconsistent logic (PL) was used to create an algorithmic structure whose main property is to accept contradiction. Moreover, a computational structure, the denominated paraconsistent data analyzer (PDAPAL2v), was constructed to perform routing management in communication networks. Direct comparisons of PDAPAL2v with a classical logic system that simulates routing conditions were made in the laboratory. In the conventional system, the paraconsistent algorithms were considered as binary logic gates, and in the tests, the same adjustment limits of PDAPAL2v were applied. Using a database with controlled insertion of noise, we obtained an efficacy of 97% in the detection of deteriorated packets with PDAPAL2v and 72% with the conventional simulation system.     This research analyzes the use of Information System (IS) by the furniture cluster located in the city of Umuarama, State of Parana, Brazil. The methodology used was a survey research made in 37 companies of this segment. These companies were interviewed about the use of IS as a competitive advantage in the cluster and in the distribution channel. The results showed that small enterprises use limited resources of IS in their internal processes and relationships with the distribution channels. The use of applications increases in midsize companies; however, they do not have systems to analyze their after sales. Large companies make intensive use of software in administrative processes, reaching more competitiveness than the other competitors.

    In this expository work, we sketch some applications of a new theory of Artificial Neural Network - ANN, based on a paraconsistent annotated evidential logic Eτ. Such theory, called Paraconsistent Artificial Neural Network - PANN - has as characteristics the capability of manipulating uncertain, inconsistent and paracomplete concepts directly without trivialization. PANN differs from other usual ANNs which are based on classical logic or in some of its extensions. Some aspects such as the capability of adaptation, velocity processing, and other useful characteristics make the PANN a promising theory. Although there are some essential non-classical approaches for reasoning (v.g Fuzzy Set Theory) in this paper, we discuss how PANN can be a basis for a reasoning model for the human brain. As the logic Eτ encompasses the classical logic and Fuzzy reasoning, we believe that PANN can be the basis for a new model for the computational scope of the Neuroscience.

    Abstract Pork consumption grows about 5% per year in developing countries. Ensuring food safety within ethical standards of meat production is a growing consumer’ demand. The present study aimed to develop a model to predict stress in piglets based on the infrared skin temperature (IST) using machine learning and the paraconsistent logic. A total of 72 piglets (32 males and 40 females) from 1 to 52 days old had the infrared skin temperature recorded during the farrowing and nursery phases under different stress conditions (pain, cold/heat, hunger, and thirst). The assessment of the thermal images was done using an infrared thermography camera. Thermograms were taken at ambient air temperatures ranging from 24 to 30 °C. The minimum infrared skin temperature (IST min) and the maximum infrared skin temperature (ISTmax) and the piglet sex were used as attributes to find the stress conditions (target). The attributes considered in the analysis were classified using the data mining method. The imaging technique is subject to certain contradictions and uncertainties that require mathematical modeling. The paraconsistent logic was applied to extract the contradiction from the data. The stress condition that had higher accuracy in the detection was that predicted by the cold (100%) using the ISTmin, and ISTmin plus the piglet sex, and thirst (91%) using ISTmax and ISTmax plus the piglet sex. The highest prediction of hunger was found using ISTmin (86%). Although the model was precise in detecting those stresses, the other stressful conditions in piglets such as pain that had an accuracy equal or less than 50%. Results indicate a promising assessment of stress condition in piglets using infrared skin temperature. We suggest the inclusion of other attributes in the machine learning process to amplify the use of the model.

    The contrast between large urban centers and other isolated locations where even the most basic resources are scarce, leads the development of self-sustainable solutions, a panorama in which the electrical power is an important demand to be supplied. Through Bibliographic and Experimental research, plus practical implementation and testing, it was possible to develop an improving solution which fits within the proposed needs. This paper aims to present a self-oriented photovoltaic system based upon the Paraconsistent Annotated Evidential Logic Eτ, its construction and practical tests, where an average yield of 3.19 W was obtained against 2.44 W from a fixed panel, representing an increase of 31.56 % in the overall power.

    The coronavirus (COVID-19) is the latest pandemic that hit human health in 2019. Wear a face mask in public areas to decrease the spread of the coronavirus. This work presents real-time face mask detection with facial temperature measures for the COVID-19 indoor monitoring system. Detecting people using ultrasonic sensors, face mask detection, and facial temperature measure using Grid-Eye Sensor are three modules applied in the proposed system. We also evaluated the proposed monitoring system in the real environment and confirmed the accuracy of 98.8% of mask detection.

    Paraconsistent logic (PL) is a type of non-classical logic that accepts contradiction as a fundamental concept and has produced valuable results in the analysis of uncertainties. In this work, algorithms based on a type of PL-paraconsistent annotated logic of two values (PAL2v)-are interconnected into a network of paraconsistent analysis (PANnet). PANnet was applied to a dataset comprising 146 Raman spectra of skin tissue biopsy fragments of which 30 spectra were determined to represent normal skin tissue (N), 96 were determined to represent tissue with basal cell carcinoma, and 19 were determined to be tissue with melanoma (MEL). In this database, paraconsistent analysis was able to correctly discriminate 136 out of a total of 145 fragments, obtaining a 93.793 % correct diagnostic accuracy. The application of PAL2v in the analysis of Raman spectroscopy signals produces better discrimination of cells than conventional statistical processes and presents a good graphical overview through its associated lattice structure. The technique of PAL2v-based data processing can be fundamental in the development of a computational tool dedicated to support the diagnosis of skin cancer using Raman spectroscopy.

    The proper combination of environment and flock-based variables plays a critical role in broiler production. However, the housing environment control is mainly focused on temperature monitoring during the broiler growth process. The present study developed a novel predictive model to predict the broiler (Gallus gallus domesticus) rearing conditions’ suitability using a data-mining process centered on flock-based and environmental variables. Data were recorded inside four commercial controlled environment broiler houses. The data analysis was conducted in three steps. First, we performed an exploratory and descriptive analysis of the environmental data. In the second step, we labeled the target variable that led to a specific broiler-rearing scenario depending on the age of the birds, the environmental dry-bulb temperature and relative humidity, the ammonia concentration, and the ventilation rate.
