Online banking has predominantly been studied in relation to adoption and its relationships with trust or in combination with other technology adoption theories such as the technology adoption model (TAM).This study however looked at the influence of E-strategy on the adoption of online banking by consumers. Most studies on strategy have tended to look at this from the perspective of the organization itself but this study has done the exact opposite i.e. it has studied strategy from the consumer’s point of view. E-strategy here is posited as the electronic strategy that is adopted by firms to increase the uptake of services offered by banks through the use of the internet from the consumer’s home.To this end, a systematic random sampling of residents in and around various cities in Malaysia was used as the study’s sample. A Pearson correlation followed by a multiple regression, and later a bootstrap of the regression output was used to test the hypotheses that were generated. The dime...

The paper was designed to examine the role of an entrepreneur’s social network and human capital on Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) performance in Nigeria. This study tries to find out if human capital moderates the relationship between social network and the SMEs performance in the country. Self-administered questionnaires were used to source data from a sample of 283 SMEs firms spread across Kano state in North-western Nigeria. Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) was utilized to test the hypotheses. The results obtained indicated that an entrepreneurial social network and human capital have significant positive effects on SMEs performance. Correspondingly, human capital moderates the relationship between the entrepreneur’s orientation and the performance of SMEs. The result implied that social network and human capital are essential drivers for firm performance. Finally, some of the study limitations include that the sample used in this study only inv...

The primary objective of this study is to examine the factors that influence the implementation of Industry 4.0 among Malaysian and Nigerian Small and Medium Enterprises. The Questionnaires were distributed to SMEs operators in both countries while analysis was done with 74 and 95 responses from Malaysia and Nigeria respectively using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM 3). Based on the findings from Malaysian data, information access, cost reduction, and efforts coordination significantly and positively influence the implementation of IR 4.0 while reluctance behaviour is not significant. For Nigerian data, information access, reluctance behaviour and effort coordination significantly and positively influence implementation of Industry 4.0 while effort coordination is not significant. The implications for both academia, practitioners, and policy makers are highlighted.

Trust is often studied as a variable that contributes towards the adoption and subsequent use of online banking (OB).This study however studied the influence that trust (TRT) exerts on perceived usefulness (PU) when intending to adopt online banking.A systematic random sampling of residents in and around various cities in Malaysia was used as the studies sample.A Pearson correlation followed by a multiple regression, and later a bootstrap of the regression output was used to test the hypotheses generated. The dimensions of trust (security, privacy, reliability) were studied first before the trust variable was tested. The regression analysis indicated a significantly positive relationship between the individual dimensions of trust and further to this the trust variable itself with PU in the context of consumer online banking adoption. The study provided a useful insight on the dimensional attributes of trust that impacts PU.The study also implied that trust has a strong impact on PU an...

The world has entered a new paradigm in air travel which has enabled anyone to travel to any corner of the globe in a matter of hours. The objective of this paper is to examine the technical efficiency level of US (United States) airlines and how internal factors affect the technical efficiency of these airlines. The paper utilized the Cobb Douglas production function to estimate the efficiency level of the US airline industry. The findings reveal that the average technical efficiency of US airlines over the period from 2005 to 2016 was 54.3% with the technical efficiency score steadily decreasing from 56.9% in 2005 to 46.4% in 2016. Labour costs have a significant impact on airline performance due to the relationship between reductions in labour cost and the increase in productivity levels which inherently affectthe overall technical efficiency of US airlines.

The majority of e-business solutions have focused on individual business improvement programs and strategies (Turban & King, 2012; Cunningham, 2002).Hamel (2002) cites an example where this new approach has both worked and at the same time created disruption within an industry whilst referring to Charles Schwab and Fidelity (both are American financial institutions) have changed the manner which customers deal with their savings resulting in mainstay US banks losing almost half of their market share to new online business models such as them.Robert and Racine (2001) conclude that there is a gap between convention and practice in this new area of commerce. They contend that in order for firms to transform from a conventional business model to an e-business model which is highly dependent on the Internet, firm‘s need to understand how IT systems are developed and deployed. Unfortunately, to most CEO‘s this is foreign terrain and the primary area of resource allocation is delegated to a...
