Character education is the deliberate effort to develop a human character with positive behavioural qualities, ethical essence, and performance values for the sake of creating a meaningful life. This article explores and elucidates the importance of character buildings for the learners in the university level with the integrated university education system applied in the University of Darussalam Gontor. This field-research aims at describing and analyzing the character building in this university that primarily runs under the pesantren system. The findings from this study show that character building in this institution is an integral part of the formal, informal, and non-formal curriculum in which sciences, religious subjects, spirituality, and values of Gontor education are integrated. تعتبر السقيفة وما جرى فيها من الأحداث بداية حقيقية لاهتمام العرب بسياسة الدولة، على الرغم من وجود النشاطات السياسية التي أجريت قبل ظهور الإسلام بين القبائل العربية. فالسقيفة تعتبر نقطة تحول للنظام والفكر السياسي العربي من النظام القبائلي الضيق إلى النظام الدولي، ومن الفكر الجاهلي إلى الفكر الإسلامي. يتحدث هذا البحث عن القوالب والتعبيرات اللغوية في حقل الخطاب السياسي العربي من خلال كتاب «الإمامة والسياسة»  لابن قتيبة الدينوري.  فهو يهدف إلى التعرف على تلك التعبيرات والسياقات التي استعملت فيها.

Most of Indonesian students can read Arabic texts, but they cannot write good Arabic according to its rules. This research was aimed to study the characteristics of the teaching materials in Imlâ’ and find out its effectiveness for enhancing writing skill. The research used Research & Development (R&D) methodology, and used four research instruments to collect the data: interviews, questionnaires, tests, and documents for collecting data. In analyzing data, Paired Sample t-Test was used.   The procedures started from the literature review, planning, design, validity and experiment to the students. Among the most important results of this research is the presence of teaching materials in the form of a textbook. Di antara bahasa-bahasa besar dunia yang dipelajari atas dasar kekuatan idealisme keagamaan adalah bahasa Arab. Maka, menjadi suatu hal yang sangat wajar, jika bahasa Arab di Indonesia —sebagai negara dengan populasi muslim terbesar di dunia— menjadi bahasa yang memiliki grafik perkembangan cukup signifikan. Oleh karena itulah, beberapa perguruan tinggi di Indonesia mencoba untuk menawarkan program-program pengajaran bahasa Arabnya, yang pada dasarnya merupakan kelanjutan dari metode “sorogan” yang telah dikenal di Indonesia sejak beberapa abad silam, dengan lebih menekankan pada aspek tuturnya. Institut Studi Islam Darussalam, sebagai perguruan tinggi pesantren yang bernaung di bawah Pondok Modern Darussalam Gontor, memiliki kelebihan yang menjadikannya sebagai satu-satunya perguruan tinggi yang dapat menerapkan Direct Method dalam pengertian yang sebenarnya.

This study aims to determine characteristics of Arabic textbooks for non-Arab students. This research is a library research. The tool used was a document analysis sheet containing information about the characteristics of a good textbook. The main data sources are the textbooks of Aku Cinta Bahasa Arab. The analysis was done by analyzing the teaching materials according to the level and capabilities of the students who will learn that, namely: 1) that the content of the book is based on the linguistic analysis of the students' language (suitability of the book to learners and contrastive linguistic analysis), 2) that the analysis is not Linguistically, that is, a cultural analysis, 3) that there be an analysis of pedagogical education towards the student and the teacher.

As one of the universities in Indonesia that focuses on teaching Arabic, University of Darussalam Gontor requires all its students to use the language well, especially Arabic in various scientific fields. But the problem faced is the unavailability of special textbooks for Agro-industrial Technology study programs. This research is intended to design Arabic language teaching materials based on maharatu alqira’ah in the Agro-industrial Technology Study Program at the University of Darussalam Gontor using the Research & Development methodology. The results of this research are the Arabic textbook Maharatu al-qira’ah improves the ability of students in Arabic material, especially in reading skills.

The Mimicry-Memorization Method is considered one of the foreign language teaching methods, particularly in teaching vocabularies. It relies on repeating and remembering. The foremost advantages of this method are its’ ability to transfer various kinds of vocabularies, besides it is also last longer in the students’ memory, and is low budget. However, this research assumed that continuous repetition and habituation will cause boredom and even reduce students’ interest in learning a language. So, the study was aimed at designing the learning media based on the Memorization method in the form of flashcards to make learning prosses more fun.
