BCP 14

RFC 2119

Conformance requirements in W3C specifications are usually expressed with a combination of descriptive assertions and RFC 2119 terminology.

RFC 8174

RFC 2119 specifies common key words that may be used in protocol specifications. RFC 8174 aims to reduce the ambiguity by clarifying that only UPPERCASE usage of the key words have the defined special meanings.

BCP 47

BCP 47 is a multipart document consisting of two separate RFCs. The first part (RFC 5646) is called Tags for Identifying Languages, and the second part (RFC 4647) is called Matching of Language Tags.

Character Model for the World Wide Web 1.0: Fundamentals

This Architectural Specification provides authors of specifications, software developers, and content developers with a common reference for interoperable text manipulation on the World Wide Web, building on the Universal Character Set, defined jointly by the Unicode Standard and ISO/IEC 10646. Topics addressed include use of the terms 'character', 'encoding' and 'string', a reference processing model, choice and identification of character encodings, character escaping, and string indexing.

Ready-made Counter Styles

This document provides ready-made definitions for counter styles and covers the needs of a range of cultures around the world. The code snippets provided in the document can be included in style declarations by simply copying and pasting, or they can be use as a starting point and modified as desired.
