This document serves as an *extra* guideline for adding the Community solution to a running Pentaho server (pentaho-bi-server on github). Here, it is assumed that a folder named /pentaho exists, where the pentaho, tomcat and project will exist. ** Required tools: - same as for pentaho-bi-server - access to your local mysql server 1- Place the "community" folder under solution-community/solution in the project-metrics/solution folder of your pentaho server (e.g.: /pentaho/project-metrics/solution/community) 2- edit the "build-properties" file and add the following (change accordingly): DB.COMMUNITY.URL = jdbc:mysql://localhost:3306/metrics_community?autoReconnect=true DB.COMMUNITY.USER = MYSQL_USER_HERE DB.COMMUNITY.PASSWORD = PASSWORD_HERE DB.COMMUNITY.DRIVER = com.mysql.jdbc.Driver (see solution-community/config/build.properties) as an example, do your changes under /pentaho/project-metrics (the original server) 3- Patch the datasources Add the following to your /pentaho/project-metrics/patches/project-metrics/solution/system/olap/datasources.xml (there's an example on this repository too: solution-community/patches/project....) <Catalog name="Mercurial"> <DataSourceInfo>Provider=mondrian;DataSource=metrics_community</DataSourceInfo> <Definition>solution:community/mercurial.mondrian.xml</Definition> </Catalog> 4- Add the data to your mysql server 4.1 Login on MySQL with the credentials you wrote in #3 4.2 Create the database metrics_community: CREATE DATABASE metrics_community; 4.3 Load the data into it (edit according to your needs): 4.3.1 rsync -av --stats --progress cm-metricsapp01:/var/www/protected/metrics_community.sql.tar.gz ./ 4.3.2 tar xvfz metrics_community.sql.tar.gz 4.3.3 mysql -u MYSQL_USER_HERE -p metrics_community < metrics_community.sql 5- Follow the instructions to compile and run your project (item #5 "Build the project") from the pentaho-bi-server README. This is a quick summary: 5.1: stop Pentaho and Hypersonic 5.2: cd /pentaho ant -Dproject=metrics -Denv=MYNAME dist-clean all cd project-metrics ./ctools-installer.sh -s /pentaho/project-metrics/solution -w /pentaho/target-dist/server/webapps/pentaho cd /pentaho/target-build/bi-platform-sample-data sh start_hypersonic.sh ant -Dproject=metrics -Denv=MYNAME run 6- Once you start your Pentaho server (http://127.0.0.1:8080/pentaho/Home (user: joe, password: password)), browse to the "community files" and you'll find the Landing Page + 2 dashboards in there.
