Fixes #7710 as proposed by @jrief

Fix some docstring issues (what at it) where references were misspelt / misplaced.

I have opened this pull request against develop
I have added or modified the tests when changing logic
I have followed the conventional commits guidelines to add meaningful information into the changelog
