Based off of #65, but this time just using float('NaN') and math.isnan() both of which should be >= 2.6 compatible.

Coverage Status

Coverage increased (+0.02%) to 99.459% when pulling efe7c9d on isnan into 3c421ca on master.

@Veknelyon Can you take a quick look at this? Some minor refactoring to ensure 2.6 compat, plus add Inf too. I'll merge if you think this fits your needs.
