I'm Richard, a solutions architect - which is just a fancy way of saying I'm a software engineer who got tired of fixing other people's broken systems and decided to draw boxes and arrows to prevent disasters before they happen.
I've bounced around for about a decade between two worlds: half my time building stuff from scratch at startups (from "we have an idea and $20" to unicorn status), and the other half as a consultant trying to convince massive corporations that yes, their 15-year-old monolith probably needs some love.
After nearly 10 years of being that guy who insists on clean code and SOLID principles, I'm mellowing out and exploring the philosophical middle ground between OOP zealotry and functional programming purity. Turns out there's wisdom in both camps.
