What’s new in Genially

Check out the new Image Galleries for presenting thumbnails, photos, GIFs, or illustrations in a compact, user-friendly, and interactive format. Layouts include carousels, image rotators, and sliders with horizontal and vertical navigation buttons, as well as grids with click-to-zoom.

It’s now possible to upload video files directly from your device, without using other platforms, giving you more flexibility, privacy and control over content. Enrich your courses with screencasts, webcam recordings, AI-generated videos and more. Uploaded videos are easy for all team members to access, in your shared workspace. If you use an LMS like Moodle, Canvas, or Blackboard, check out our upgraded LTI connection. Learning Tools Interoperability (LTI) provides a secure connection to your LMS. It allows you to upload content without logging in to Genially and syncs updates and learner scores to your learning platform. You can now set up connections to multiple different Learning Management Systems all from the same workspace. If you use SCORM, the new Dynamic Scorm option ensures that changes are updated in your LMS automatically. There’s no need to download and import a new package every time you edit content.

Help your team scale up the content creation process with Brand Templates: a collection of automatically generated templates with your branding already applied. When you change the fonts, color palettes, or logo in your Brand Kit, your Brand Templates update automatically. We’ve also made it easier to apply the fonts and text styles from your Brand Kit to any Genially template or creation, in two clicks. 

You can now trigger visual effects like balloons and confetti to burst across the screen. Effects can be activated by clicking on any element (such as a button) or programmed to appear when a countdown timer is up. Add pops of fun, celebration, and surprise to quizzes and learning materials.

Erase the background from any photo or image in seconds and create your own custom designs. Create cutouts with a transparent background that you can combine with other elements or place on a new background.

Save time creating quizzes, knowledge checks, and marketing materials with the help of artificial intelligence. Enter your topic, and AI will provide you with suggested questions and answers. Available in the Interactive Questions sidebar.

Put the pressure on! Make quizzes, assessments, and knowledge checks a bit more challenging and a lot more fun with a countdown timer. Choose how long learners have to respond and if you want to display a Time’s up! message. Add a timer in the Actions tab

You can now host live quizzes and games in Genially! Amp up the energy and introduce some friendly competition into your classes, presentations, and training sessions.

 

As players respond, their results pop up on screen, showing who’s in the lead.

 

Live Results boosts engagement and team spirit in asynchronous settings too, as participants can see how others have responded.

We’ve launched new embed controls to give Workspace Owners and Admins more power over where published content is shared. With Domain Restriction you can block geniallys from being embedded on sites you haven’t pre-approved.

 

This helps you protect your material and make sure it’s only viewed by its intended audience. When Domain Restriction is activated, embedded content can only be viewed on named domains that you’ve added to your approved list. Available with Genially Author.

 

As well as PowerPoint and Google Files, you can now import PDFs directly into Genially. Convert static documents, reports, and training assets into accessible and user-friendly materials that work just like a website.

 

Unlike PDFs, you can embed videos and online content directly in the page. Readers can consume everything in the same document without opening links to websites.

Keep tabs on changes and protect your team’s work with Version and Activity History, both available now with Genially Author.

 

With Activity History you can see when content was created, edited, moved, or deleted — and check exactly which changes were made. The Workspace Owner can filter by date, time, action type, and team member. 

 

When you need to backtrack, use Version History to view and restore an earlier version. It’s quick and easy to reverse mistakes and ensures you won’t lose previous work.

For fans of the click-to-reveal interaction we’re happy to unveil its counterpart: Hide! When users click on an element, it makes another one disappear. The hide interaction is a powerful tool for storytelling and step-by-step sequences, allowing users to process information in digestible chunks. 

 

For game-based learning, it’s useful for concealing clues and making objects vanish. Settings include the option to hide multiple elements and reveal elements again when the user clicks for a second time. For extra impact, try combining Hide with click-trigger animations or sound effects.

Check your writing for mistakes and change the way it sounds in one click. When you add text to the canvas, select the ✨Edit text with AI button. Available with all premium plans.

Make learning experiences more dynamic with the new Coin Flip, Dice, Countdown, Timer, and Stopwatch. These widgets are a fun tool for capturing attention, boosting motivation, and giving learners more agency.

 

Use the Carousel Gallery to show visual clues when creating games, or try the Randomizer to present a choice in how to move forward. Find these features in the Interactive Elements menu.

We’ve upgraded Smartblocks to help you build gorgeous content even more quickly. Smartblocks are pre-formatted graphics that you can add to the page in one click. They come with interactions and animations set up and ready for you to customize.

 

The new bank of over 150 designs includes timelines, maps, charts, diagrams, image galleries and full-page layouts for slides and social media.
