Dh'fhoillsich e cruinneachaidhean bàrdachd. Ann an 1841, rinn e cruinneachaidh e fhèin leis an ainm Sàr-Obair nam Bàrd Gàelach no 'sa Bheurla The Beauties of Gaelic Poetry. Bha an leabhar gu math soirbheachail agus thug e cliù mhòr do MhacCoinnich.
Sgrìobh e pìosan cuideachd ann an Cuairtear nan Gleann.
Chaochail e an Inbhir Iùbh ann an 1848.
