Since 1990s it has been used as a lifeline and tool to achieve superior performance. Business Intelligence task is also to provide the right information, to the right person at the right format and time to support better decision making process. Both types of information management technologies are now widely used for organizational performance improvement tools. However, the implementation and practices of a complete Knowledge Management System and Business Intelligence practices in organizations are still debatable and needs more research. Comprehensive discussion on theory, research and practices are required to gain the business insights. This review paper is written to provide an overview to the executives and scholars with pragmatic understanding about integrating knowledge management and business Intelligence practices and technologies for successful performance. It also discusses that how critical knowledge for organizations that must depend on information and communication technologies for strategic planning, dynamic learning, problem solving and better decision making process.

This study analyzes some of the best well known Intrusion detection techniques and challenging number of attacks including unknown attacks. This paper presents some of appropriate techniques which are proposed for intrusion detection and anomaly detection.

Normally, an organization summarizes and copies information from its operational systems to the data warehouse on a regular schedule, such as daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually; after that, management can perform complex queries and analysis OLAP on the information without slowing down the operational systems. Materialized views can be one best option in this regard and can be used in a number of ways. It can be used in distributed databases for replication and can also be used for efficient provision of data to a query through query rewriting. The process of data provision to queries can further be expedited if dependent child views are created on an already existing materialized view. Furthermore, these child-views are automatically created upon the creation of the base materialized view with some restrictions. This results in less-user dependent activity of creation of materialized views based on some parameters. These parameters are the number of child-materialized views and the type of the data a view contain. In this paper, a balanced approach is suggested to create sub-materialized views to answer user queries without consulting the fact table or parent materialized view that results in avoidance of resource intensive calculations and joining of multiple tables.

Computers have become part and parcel of human life, whether used in most complex systems such as global supply chain management system, International banking and monetary transfer system, or helpdesk entry system and computer maintenance recording information system. At large IT infrastructure of any enterprise, data is often most valuable asset of the business. Businesses must be prepared to protect their data in case of a failure. Therefore, the role of a Database Administrator (DBA) in any organization is the management of the physical grasp of a database management system (DBMS), which includes physical database design and implementation, setting confidentiality, integrity and availability of a database system, monitoring system performance, and discerning the database, as necessary. The database administrator's main goal is to ensure that the database is open and available when users need it. To achieve that goal, the DBA should foreknow and prepare robust recovery plans to avoid common causes of failure. In these plans, a DBA focuses to increase the MeanTime Between Failures (MTBF), ensuring that hardware is as reliable as possible, that critical components are protected by redundancy, and that operating system maintenance is performed in a timely manner. It is a main responsibility of a DBA to use advanced configuration options to increase MTBF and avoid possible failures in a database system. This study reveals few intricacies during the database recovery planning and implementation that may occur in any large database system of a large organization. Suggestions are offered for implementing database recovery techniques.

Due to this need of an efficient information retrieval system is also increased in the recent years. We saw a lot of work and progress in the field of textual information, but in the field of multimedia we cannot find such/much progress. In image search and especially in image retrieval from a large collection, computerized system is at very initial stages. One main reason for the slow progress is the widespread roots of the image search where many areas like statistics, image processing, pattern recognition and artificial intelligence are playing their role. In this paper, a new technique is presented, where images are searched and retrieved on the basis of high-level features using materialized views. The main feature of materialized views is fast search and retrieval from a large collection, and we are considering/using this main feature in this paper.

It has been used since 1990s as a tool to achieve sustainable competitive advantages and greater performance, and now, it is becoming an essential asset to sustain organizational competitive advantages and a vehicle for continuous progress and innovation. It is every organization's objective to be able to grow and progress whether it is an SME or a large enterprise so to ensure that there is return on investment of the shareholders and this objective can be met through sustainable superior organizational performance. There are many determinants that may influence organizational performance operating in the current economy but one that is being increasingly recognized as vital is knowledge management. This article has two objectives: The first is to provide an overview of knowledge management and highlight the importance of this field of practice, and the second is to provide few case studies of the successful implementation of knowledge management from different industries. Thus, we will further explore the notion that knowledge management positively impacts organizational performance through the analysis of a number of case studies where knowledge management is being practiced. We will start by highlighting the general interpretation of organizations, the current economy within which they are operating, the concept of knowledge management and how it may be used within organizations. This will be followed by an analysis of cases of knowledge management being practiced and the impact it has had on the overall performances, and finally present our argument that suggest knowledge management positively impacts organizational performances.

Today it is considered to be more powerful and valuable asset of organizations, though in a nascent but rapidly growing practice that is helping organizations to gain insights of their businesses. The increasing size of artifacts and business processes has resulted into emergence of Big Data. The quality, dynamic variation and diverse nature of information, challenges any organization to possess higher performance; hence, Knowledge management holds a very important role in managing multifaceted information and association to organizational performance improvement. The current literature focuses on the issues related to Knowledge Management of Big Data; structured and unstructured, and challenges faced by enterprises in performance improvement. The study will address the need identified and will focus on some of the Knowledge Management concerns in terms of organizational performance. Also this study is based on the concepts related to the idea that big data is actually big knowledge and knowledge management is valuable asset of organizations to enhance their performance.
