For the verb: krav +‎ -a. From Old Swedish kræfia, from Old Norse krefja, from Proto-Germanic *krafjaną or Proto-Germanic *krabjaną. Causative derivation from krav. Cognate with Danish kræve, Norwegian Bokmål kreve, Old English crafian and English crave.
