Etymology
[edit]From Betawi gado-gado, reduplication of gado, from Javanese gado.

- a traditional dish in Indonesian cuisine (originally Betawi cuisine), a vegetable salad served with a peanut sauce dressing.
- (colloquial) A confused mass of ingredients mixed together: hodgepodge
