[edit]beinbrot + -s- + kattarklógv. Literally, “bone breaker cat claw”. Likely a calque of Latin ossifragus (because of plant’s effect against bones), compare also Danish benbræk, German Beinbrech, Dutch beenbreek, dialectal Norwegian Nynorsk romabrot (“bog asphodel”) and beinbrotgras (“Convallaria or Polygonatum”).
