[edit]Retronym for guitar, coined after the invention of the electric guitar to refer to the older type of guitar and avoid confusion with the electric guitar.

- A hollow-body guitar of the older variety, in contradistinction to an electric guitar.
- He was playing the acoustic guitar while his girlfriend was on the drums.
