Galician

[edit]

Etymology

[edit]

From Old Galician-Portuguese adesora (13th century, Cantigas de Santa Maria), contraction of a de so hora (at the very moment). The semantic evolution, which also happened in Portuguese and Spanish, was due to rebracketing: des- (dis-) + hora (hour).[1]
