Rfv-sense of "flat, apartment". I don't recognise this as a distinct sense and neither do several dictionaries that I consulted. It seems like a Germanism to me and it was indeed added by Kolmiel, who was one of our best non-native contributors to Dutch but notably also a native speaker of German. ←₰-→ Lingo Bingo Dingo (talk) 10:34, 13 May 2020 (UTC)
- The page Eengezinswoning on the Dutch-language Wikipedia clearly considers a freestanding one-family residential house as much a woning as any form of accomodation in a shared residential building. There is also the suggestion that when a woning is a flat or apartment, other more specific terms (such as appartement) are used in preference. The Wikipedia article on the Amsterdam coronation riots translates the slogan “Geen woning: geen kroning!” as “No house, no coronation“, quoting a respectable source: the Rijksmuseum; clearly, the protesters against the housing shortage did not specifically demand flats or apartments to live in. See also the many Google Image Search hits for “vrijstaande woning”. Enough negative evidence. It is not easy to imagine the form of any positive attestations; someone saying, “The one percent live in villas; we have to live in woningen”? --Lambiam 20:00, 13 May 2020 (UTC)

- Thanks, the sense was twice deleted out of process while the RFV was running, so I'm glad that stuff is over.
