'even when there is would sound incorrect'

[edit]

Hi, could an example be added? Thanks in advance. --Backinstadiums (talk) 10:38, 30 January 2017 (UTC)Reply

With any plural object. For example, you might hear "there's many examples of this phenomenon", but not "there is many examples". Expanded, it would usually be "there are many examples" instead. (See google books:"there's multiple" for examples. Half of the markedly smaller number of hits for google books:"there is multiple", in contrast, are using a single compound noun of which "multiple" is the first part, like "multiple operator fronting".) - -sche (discuss) 05:03, 2 June 2017 (UTC)Reply

You can't say, for example, Oh, there's your parents; let's pretend we haven't seen them. Backinstadiums (talk) 08:41, 10 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

why not? Zyzzek (talk) 20:55, 26 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
