From Middle English June, june, re-Latinised from Middle English Juyn, juyng, from Old French juing, juin, from Latin iūnius, the month of the goddess Iuno (Juno), perhaps from Proto-Indo-European *yuwn̥kós, from Proto-Indo-European *h₂óyu (vital force, youthful vigor).
