[edit]Possibly from ẹlí- + gbó (“to be old, ancient, ripe”), compare with Olukumi árígbó, Yoruba arúgbó, Èkìtì Yoruba arígbó, Igala ánágbó. Proposed to be derived from a proto Edekiri form, though gbó (“to be old”), can be traced back to Proto-Yoruboid
