Canet de Mar is a municipality in the province of Barcelona (Spain), 43 km from Barcelona, between the municipalities of Arenys de Mar and Sant Pol de Mar.

By plane

Barcelona El Prat Airport - BCN IATA is about 1 hour 15 min away by car. Barcelona city lies between the Barcelona airport and Canet de Mar, so if you plan to go by car, it can take well over 2 hr 30 min in the rush hour. By train you must switch trains at Sants station. Take line  R2NORD  to Sants. There, you must change to  R1  , direction Mataró-Maçanet/Massanes.

Served by Rodalies-RENFE Rodalies-Renfe trains. The  R1  line connects to Barcelona where you can change train to go to airport. It also goes to Maçanet-Massanes where you can change train to Girona (and connect to the Girona airport)

A taxi station is near train station.

By car

  • The  C32  Motorway goes from Barcelona to Palafolls

Get around

Canet is small enough to walk almost anywhere. The boardwalk features a promenade in the historical center: walking from the church to the cathedral you can visit many architectural works. It is the smallest town in Catalunya with more historical and modernist buildings.

  • 4 Santuari de la Mare de Déu de la Misericòrdia. It is a place of devotion documented since 1461. With the increase in population and devotion to the Mercy in the 19th century, the building, which measured only 6.80 m (22.3 ft) in width and 12.40 m (40.7 ft) in length, became too small. In 1852, a new building was commissioned. Despite the prevailing neoclassical fashion, before the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Molina defended his preference for the neo-Gothic style. During the Spanish Civil War, the building was set on fire, and most of the archives were lost. After the war, the building was restored. Road Cycling

You can train along the coast in the N-II road between El Masnou and Santa Susanna. Or try the road from Arenys to Port of Collsacreu to Sant Celoni .

In Sant Pol de Mar starts the bv-5128 and then the BV-5031 until Mataro. This route is a favorite among locals. They call it "el pollastre" (the chicken).

Hiking

The GR-5 Viewpoints Trail (Sender dels miradors), starts in the city and goes through the Parc del Montnegre i el Corredor, the Montseny Natural Park, Sant Llorenç del Munt i l'Obac Natural Park, the Montserrat Natural Park and ends crossing the Parc del Garraf and ends in Sitges
