Douay-Rheims Bible (1633–1635)

This edition of the Douay-Rheims Bible published by Iohn Covstvrier at Rouen consists of a one-volume New Testament (1633) and a two-volume Old Testament (1635). Together, it forms a three-volume Bible as did the first edition of 1582-1610. This was the last edition published until the Challoner revision of 1750.

The 1633 New Testament portion of this Bible was illustrated for the first time with engravings of each Evangelist at the start of their respective Gospels. The engravers were Michel Van Locham and Piquet who produced a total of 8 copper plates for this work. The text is an exact reprint, albeit with spelling changes, of the 1600 Rheims New Testament which had some of its notes augmented and rearranged from the first edition of 1582.
