Maqam Echahid

[edit]

I understand the rationale behind the move, but "Maqam Echahid" happens to be the common name. M.Bitton (talk) 23:01, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You're right. I just had a look at Google scholar results.[1][2] Thanks for pointing it out. Skitash (talk) 23:12, 2 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

AIV

[edit]

Hi Skitash, I didn't mean to encourage you in creating AIV reports about users' behavior that is already at another noticeboard like WP:AN. When I processed your report of Monsieur Patillo, I didn't want this to result in Special:Diff/1250773356, which was correctly declined as unsuitable for the noticeboard (and, as long as a discussion already exists at WP:AN or WP:ANI, which are the right noticeboards for reporting personal attacks, forum shopping). Best regards, ~ ToBeFree (talk) 20:16, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you, I'll make sure to use the correct noticeboard next time. It's just that TahaKahi has only made 153 edits to a narrow range of articles, and it seemed to me they were an SPA using Wikipedia for a specific purpose. Skitash (talk) 20:27, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Native names in North African articles

[edit]

This is to make my due diligence and discuss your edit history. I, and many users have previously voiced concern over the issue of languages (mainly Berber) being removed from city articles. In my two last edits, I have de-cluttered the first sentence as per MOS:FORLANG and only left the third name in the Infobox, adding a footnote. However, you reverted the edit plus the Infobox, which, as far as I am aware, is not discussed in MOS:FORLANG.

I thus suggest a consensus. Since both Algeria and Morocco have two official languages with a third de-facto one, we may agree on moving all native names to a specific section further down the article Gts1300 (talk) 20:03, 12 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

MOS:FORLANG explicitly states that a single equivalent name is sufficient. Additionally, it would be great if you could review the consensus regarding native names in Algerian articles here. Skitash (talk) 10:12, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have an expanded level of powers and discretion in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures, you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

Rape in Gaza

[edit]

As you know, I'm not a native Arabic speaker. But recently I came across some Arabic sources discussing the rape of women in Gaza, and who are now pregnant with IDF soldiers' children. One example is this commentary by Salman al-Dayah, a university professor who has remained in northern Gaza despite the siege. He writes: غتصاب بعض العذارى والثيبات، وقد حصل لبعضهن حمل من علوج أهل الحرب. Have you come across any other sources on this? VR (Please ping on reply) 07:15, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

No, I couldn't find any additional sources on this topic. I'll let you know if I find any. Skitash (talk) 11:33, 16 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
