Hi Naufana,

I believe you may have re-added the disambiguation link to Chimera (genetics) without realizing that it had previously been removed. This guideline explains why such a disambiguation link is extraneous. If you still have questions once you have read the guideline, feel free to contact me.

Fair use rationale for Image:Slick_photo_sm.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Slick_photo_sm.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Rettetast (talk) 16:59, 19 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do you think the new paragraph about Tosh's importance to history and historiography with references warrant the removal of the notability tag? Thanks --Graham Lippiatt (talk) 16:34, 9 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the comments. From looking at the page history, I thought you had put up the notability tag. Sorry about that. I agree I over-egged the pudding a bit with the 'claim to fame' stuff. Maybe the originator of the tag will respond on the John Tosh talk page and we can agree on what happens next.

Regards--Graham Lippiatt (talk) 00:26, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

First off, I would prefer it if you didn't throw out accusations. I never saw the post you made on the talk page. The previous dispute had very little to do with me, I just cleaned up the article after people were afraid that it was turning into an ad for Ben's Chili Bowl (only slightly applicable to the current issue.) The relevant policy is Wikipedia:Trivia sections, which says to avoid miscellaneous facts. Knowing that Obama didn't know what a half-smoke was is perhaps interesting inasmuch as he's not a Washington native, but it does not aid reader understanding on a half-smoke itself. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 03:13, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The reason the trivia section is currently left as-is is because I don't have content to put there; there's tons of original research in the earlier sections I'm trying to weed out, and I actually have sources to cite development of the race (while I admit right now I'm at a loss as to where to find the sources that will make a good cultural impact section.) Per WP:TRIVIA, trivia is accepted in "works in progress" articles as it is assumed they will be eventually phased out; that's not a reason to add one however. If you're so intent on having the Obama mention, than you should really chop it down to one sentence which can be used to support that it's a DC thing, not give it its own section. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 03:31, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to bed soon and I've got early classes tomorrow, so I don't really have time for a long talk about this. Go ahead and reinstate your edit and we can cut it down or mess around with it as needed. Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 03:41, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
And don't worry about the language on talk, god knows I get more annoyed and don't bother retracting some statements :) (I just generally get into OWN arguments I suppose, so it particularly irks me.) See you around, Der Wohltemperierte Fuchs (talk) 03:44, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I removed your additions on Obama and Cosby under WP:NotNews. Admittedly I'm not American, but it just seems trivial to me. --Blowdart | talk 06:41, 12 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Seven Cent Cotton and Forty Cent Meat requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. For future reference: when you write an article about a song, do not include the actual lyrics unless they are public domain. It's a violation of copyright. The rest of the article is fine, though. DS (talk) 01:15, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi there. I just wanted to apologize for mistakenly tagging your article as G12. I'm new, and still learning the ropes, though I should not be able to use that as an excuse. I realize that the only content that should have been removed is the lyrics, and I hope that you can forgive me for the mistake. MacMedtalk to me!what have i done? 01:30, 20 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (File:InstinctDVD.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:InstinctDVD.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. Notice

The file File:Instinct (soundtrack album - cover art).jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non-free album cover being used in a decorative manner in Instinct (film)#Soundtrack. Non-free album cover art is generally allowed to be used for primary identification purposes in stand-alone articles about albums, but its use in other articles is generally only allowed when the cover art itself is the subject of sourced critical commentary as explained in WP:NFC#cite_note-3 and the context for non-free use required by WP:NFCC#8 is evident. There is no such commentary for this particular album cover anywhere in the article, and the use of soundtrack album cover art in articles about films or TV programs is generally not allowed for this reason as explained in WP:FILMSCORE.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
