Correspondence

[edit]

Morven says: I edited your yestersol article to give it the proper Wiki markup. You bold by enclosing in triple single quotes like '''this'''. You create titles by surrounding with equals-signs, like this ==A heading==. Convention is to start with double-equals for the top level headings and work downwards by adding more equals. We normally capitalise the first word of a heading and lowercase the rest, unless they're proper nouns of course. Thanks! —Morven 20:51, 25 Mar 2004 (UTC)

Response: Thanks for the tips! --mdrejhon

Same-sex marriage in Canada

Spinboy says: It's not legal until the bill passes the Senate and recieves royal assent. Please revert your change. --File:Ottawa flag.png Spinboy 29 June 2005 06:22 (UTC)

Response: My apologies. Done. --mdrejhon

Spinboy says: Nice website. I like your resume, impressive. I especially took note of your hearing loss, I'm sorry to read about that. For the past year and a bit I've been learning American Sign Language at Algonquin College, and while you say on your site you don't know the language, I just thought I'd mention it anyway. :-) --File:Ottawa flag.png Spinboy 29 June 2005 06:31 (UTC)

Sorry, didn't mean to step on toes. I left Aerodium up because they were specifically mentioned in the text, in context. Thats in line with the policy on external links, in that it supports information in the text of the article. External links policy allows for one or two representative links as well, so I will of course defer to people who actually have worked on the article (ie you) if you want to remove Aerodium or reinstate one or two of the other links if you felt it supported the text. I just wanted to act to head things off at the pass in case the anon came back and complained that I was being biased against their link. --Syrthiss 18:36, 2 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Cdn-dime-obverse.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Cdn-dime-obverse.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 20:28, 13 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't the creator of this image. It was user 'thirty-seven'. My work on this image is merely as follows, from the work log of the image:
"Modification of previous (thirty-seven's) image; JASC Paint Shop Pro, convert to Monochrome followed by contrast enhancement, to remove offending copper color from our dime which is silver colored. For original credits, please refer to previous image." Mdrejhon (talk) 16:40, 14 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

[edit]

Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 18:36, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Relay-screen.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Relay-screen.png. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 23:08, 26 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of Luxo

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Luxo requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must include on the external site the statement "I, (name), am the author of this article, (article name), and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License, Version 1.2 and later." You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Bvlax2005 (talk) 14:08, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think I've ever been involved in the article involving Luxo (In fact, I don't know what a Luxo is!). Since it no longer exists, can anyone elaborate what exactly got violated (the specific text, image, or website that's in my name)? Was an image used in another article of mine, used in the Luxo article? As I haven't logged on for a while, I am concerned my account may have been hacked so my password has been changed. Mdrejhon (talk) 19:04, 5 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated C64S, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/C64S. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Pcap ping 09:03, 5 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. When you recently edited Next Generation 9-1-1, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Legacy (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Problems with upload of File:Representation of computer program for analytical engine.png

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Representation of computer program for analytical engine.png. You don't seem to have said where the image came from, who created it, or what the copyright status is. We require this information to verify that the image is legally usable on Wikipedia, and because most image licenses require giving credit to the image's creator.

False alarm. The copyright permission is already included -- it is declared as public domain by the author, and is a LaTeX reproduction of a table from a book published in 1842. I've included a copy of the author's email in the notes. See below. Mdrejhon (talk) 04:57, 12 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

From: John Walker <kelvin@fourmilab.ch>

> "Who made the modern copy of Note G on www.fourmilab.ch ? May I have your permission to post a copy of Note G on Wikipedia, in the Ada Lovelace article?"

I made this image myself, using LaTeX to typeset the page and
produce the PDF and image files. It is based upon the diagram in
the Dover edition:

   (((amazon link removed -- /dp/0486246914/?tag=fourmilabwwwfour)))

of Babbage-related works.

This image (as well as the entire content of my edition of Ada's
paper) is in the public domain and may be used in any way without
any restrictions whatsoever.

I have attached the original LaTeX source code from which this
image was produced.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Lever escapement, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tick tock (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Using the disambig page was intentional and accurate -- no modification is actually needed. Mdrejhon (talk) 03:27, 16 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The article Bell Fibe TV has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Notability has only 1-2 sources

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:01, 22 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Proxy

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Mdrejhon (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

Caught by an open proxy block but this host or IP is not an open proxy. My IP address is 187.189.155.44. I am a Canadian currently at my winter vacation home in Mexico using the TotalPlay Internet service provider, which may be using an ISP-level NAT. Mdrejhon (talk) 6:59 am, 18 April 2023, Tuesday (10 days ago) (UTC+2)

Decline reason:

Your IP is not blocked any more. I see that you made some edits after making this request. Thus, the request is now moot. Vanjagenije (talk) 21:58, 27 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

How long/much longer do you expect to be down there (you don't have to be precise)? I or another admin would be happy to set you up with a temporary IP block exemption until you get back up north. Daniel Case (talk) 06:50, 18 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I'm guessing end of May / early June but it varies quite a bit, and there are other people who are staying behind (though they don't edit Wikipedia).
Is this going to be an annual re-request? TotalPlay is Mexico's 2nd biggest ISP. Also the IP is dynamic too, but the fiber optic router is rarely rebooted.
That IP address does not appear to be blocked at this time. It looks like it was blocked on the 11th for a week for p2p proxy detections. Are you still getting block notices? If so, what message are you getting? SQLQuery Me! 00:27, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh. Thanks.
BTW, TotalPlay is a gigabit FTTH service in Mexico, their fiber deployments have exploded in the last 12-24 months, so you're probably getting skyrocketing bandwidth by all Mexico users. Even Telmex is yanking copper and replacing with fiber in a hurry-compete. So there's a lot of flux (good and bad) by the aggregate of Mexico users. Mdrejhon (talk) 03:05, 22 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]
