The Wildhearts

[edit]

Please note that The Wildhearts have merely announced a one-time special event appearance for the end of 2012, featuring a reunion of various former members from various lineups. This is not a return to active duty. Therefore it is inaccurate to change the article to state "current members" and 2012 as an "active" time period, as if the band is an ongoing concern again. If they were really back in business it would be announced at http://www.thewildhearts.com/category/news/. Thanks, --DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 19:04, 22 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

It is also inaccurate to say they are 'inactive' if they are about to begin rehearsing for a gig later in the year. There are not a minimum amount of gigs that a reforming band needs to announce in order for them to be considered 'active'. Nor does the band need to be in talks with a record label, be recording and/or releasing records or take out a Royal proclamation in order to be considered "active"/"current". I could name you six other bands that have reformed in 2012, all of which have no plans to record/release records and have no live plans beyond 2012. However, all of those other bands are still considered to be 'active', and four of those bands are only doing 4-6 gigs. Just because The Wildhearts have only one gig announced (so far) does not make them any less 'active'.

But note that the Wildhearts, according to this very same Wikipedia article, were "on hiatus" from 1997 to 2001, but did a few special one-time gigs during that period. So is "on hiatus" inaccurate for that period too? --DOOMSDAYER520 (Talk|Contribs) 13:53, 23 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Well, yes and no. They were considered to be 'on hiatus' for that period as they were not a full-time concern, but any year in which they played gigs should be considered an active year. I don't have a record of when they played those Japanese gigs (1998? Were there any others after that?) so I'm not going to change it. However, that doesn't mean that the present activity of the band should be considered a non-event.

Gigs for spring 2013 to be announced soon...
