License tagging for Image:Spirit walker.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Spirit walker.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 10:08, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

I would like an article assesment and importance rating on this article and ways of improvement.

After you made the assesment and importance rating could you please put it on the talk page in the template

{{WPSchools
 |class=
 |importance=
 }}

Put the assement rating on the class bit and the importance rating on the imortance bit. It will on the top of the page.

It will look like this:

Thanks a lot KGV 05:53, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I made the assessment at a B-class; I don't feel able to judge the importance. The main reason it won't get any higher at present is a lack of references. The whole article needs citing. It's also weak on history, and a bit too focused on more recent events. Trebor 23:37, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wolf Brother

[edit]

Nice little article I have cleaned a bit - it is not normally acceptable to use "Blurb". If some element of it is required then it need properly referencing and included with in-line citations. Also not sure about the level of entries in See also most of these are referenced elsewhre in the article, it should really be used for "See other also". :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 11:15, 26 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your request for adminship

[edit]

I would suggest you withdraw your request for adminship, as it is almost certain that it would not succeed. People expect somebody to be here for at least three months before attempting to become an admin (there are other expectations too).

And a suggestion. It is good to use an edit summary when you contribute, so that other people can understand what you changed. Cheers, Oleg Alexandrov (talk) 04:38, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism reverts

[edit]

Thanks for cleaning up vandalism on Wikipedia! Also, thank you for putting warning templates on the vandals' user talk pages. Just one thing I'd like to mention: please substitute vandal warning templates when you use them; for example use {{subst:uw-vandalism1}} instead of {{uw-vandalism1}}. It makes the messages more personal, and limits the damage that vandals can cause by vandalising the warning templates. Keep up the good work! Dave6 10:12, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Helping out with the Unassessed Wikipedia Biographies

[edit]

Seeing that you are an active member of the WikiBiography Project, I was wondering if you would help lend a hand in helping us clear out the amount of [unassessed articles] tagged with {{WPBiography}}. Many of them are of stub and start class, but a few are of B or A caliber. Getting a simple assessment rating can help us start moving many of these biographies to a higher quality article. Thank you! --Ozgod 21:08, 23 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Children'sLiteratureWikiProject template

[edit]

Look's like we might have a little problem. You have recently added some assessment and category assigning code to this template - which is fine of course. However the categories you are using are the same ones that the NovelsWikiProject use in theirs. Obviously the subject areas of the two project overlap and we should be working closely with each other. However it is going to be "very" confusing if two different templates assign articles to the same assessment categories. My own view would be that your template should assign to a specific set of "class" category etc for your project.

I have have quickly made some changes to seperatre out the categories I trust they will be acceptable. My apologes if these cause problems. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 09:43, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the response. Tried to be as careful as I could. Did you have and thoughts about the subject below. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 10:29, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

One the subject of co-operation would we be able to develop a "joint task force" for scope overlap areas. We work on the stories, characters, locations etc. for all prose narrative fiction, loosely refered to as "novels" regardless of length. :: Kevinalewis : (Talk Page)/(Desk) 09:36, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure whether or not you were making a joke or not, but the Arctic Monkeys tag you put in the Arctic article in the section on animals redirects to a band's page. Thus, it's been reverted. RfA

[edit]

I see that you have re-submitted, word-for-word, your failed RfA of last month. I have to say that nothing has really changed in the short time between these submissions, and I do not see any chance of this one succeeding, for the following reasons:- 1. Using exactly the same words guarantees exactly the same response. 2. You do not show, from the edits you have made, an adequate in-depth involvement in all aspects of wikipedia. 3. Your answers to the questions do not reveal an adequate perception of the role of an admin. 4. Your command of English spelling and grammar leave a great deal to be desired. (Did you really mean "incest" on your user-page?) The fact that you are still at school is of no consequence - many of our admins similarly are still in education. But you have to demonstrate competence in admin-related tasks, which at this time I do not see. I suggest that you withdraw your application before it gets jumped on, and consider coming back with a freshly-created application when you have another six months or so of experience and another 3000 or so good edits in your edit-count.--Anthony.bradbury 09:24, 10 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My friend, further to your reponse on my talk page, I would not dream of arguing with you, and it may be that by accident you re-submitted the old RfA rather than a changed one. But the old one is the one which showed in the RfA page.--Anthony.bradbury 08:04, 14 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Vampirates tide.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. Arabic names don't work that way

[edit]

Greetings!

I noticed you tried to interpolate an English style surname for someone with an Arabic name. No offense, but I believe that was a mistake. Generally people with Arabic names don't inherit their surname from their father, as people do in the English speaking world. So there is no value in sorting them on their last name. Generally their last name is their father's first name. Actually, it is more complicated than that. There are regional names, and tribal names, that can be added at the end. They aren't surnames either. IMO it is better to sort these guys solely on their first names.

So I changed your "listas" field.

Please consider holding back from trying to shoehorn Arabic names into the English style surnames.

Exceptions are those who have lived in a westernized Muslim country, like Turkey, or who have lived in non-Muslim countries. They often adopt the English style of naming. But very few Guantanamo captives fall into that class.

Further, the DoD proved unable to choose one consistent representation of the captives names. A very substantial fraction of those captives have multiple inconsistent names -- generally varying most in the last components.

The King's School, Ely

[edit]

Hi there, I noticed you are a member of Wikiproject Schools, and wondered whether you would like to cast your eye over The King's School, Ely which is currently under peer review in preparation for G.A. I would love to eventually take it to FA standard, but it is perhaps a long way off. Nevertheless, your opinion or even edits would be much appreciated! rocketman89 (talk) 10:56, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject Media franchises

[edit]

Dear KGV...If you are still interested in participating in WikiProject Media franchises, please remove your name from the inactive participants list and add it to the active participants list. If you don't have time, but would still like to show some support, you can always add yourself to the sympathizers list. It would be wonderful to see you in the project. Have a nice day! - LA (T) 19:50, 6 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Calling all active WP:NOVELS members

[edit]
WikiProject Novels Roll Call

WikiProject Novels is currently holding a roll call, which we hope to have annually. Your username is listed on the members list, but we are unsure as to which editors are still active within the project. If you still consider yourself an active WP:Novels editor, please add your name back to the Active Members list. Also feel free to join any of our task forces and take a look at the project's Job Centre to get involved!

Next month we will begin the coordinator election selection process. We hope to have more involvement and input this time around! More news will be forthcoming. Thanks, everyone! María (habla conmigo) 17:53, 8 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WP:Children's Literature Portal

[edit]

Hello, I recently joined WP:Children's literature and am trying to help revitalize the project. One of the things I would like to update is the project portal. I notice that in the past you have maintained it, however I also realize that you area busy member of several other wikiprojects. Is this something you'd like to continue doing, or would you mind if I started updating it? Aurum ore (talk) 17:52, 9 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Project news
Member news
  • The members list is currently under review so we have moved all past active member's name to a Incumbent List and are doing a Project Roll Call. If you still consider yourself an active WP:NOVELS editor, please add your name back to the Active Members List. You may also wish to add your name to any of our many Project Task Forces.
Task force news
Novel-related news
  • Devil May Care, written by Sebastian Faulks ("writing as Ian Fleming"), has become Penguin Books fastest selling hardcover fiction title. It is the latest installment in the book series about British secret agent James Bond and was released to coincide with the 100th anniversary of late Bond creator Ian Fleming's birthday on May 28, 1908.
  • Me Cheeta: the Autobiography, written by a ghostwriter, is the autobiography of Cheeta the Chimp who is listed in the Guinness World Records as the oldest recorded non-human primate at the age of 76. He has appeared in various movie roles which included twelve Tarzan movies and even battled addiction to alcohol and cigars. The book is not published until October 1, but judges for the 2008 Guardian First Book Award were sent a early version and were so impressed that they have included it on the 10-strong longlist.
  • Stephenie Meyer, who is listed by Time magazine as one of its 100 most influential people of 2008, has decided not to continue with writing her draft for Midnight Sun after 12 chapters of the unfinished manuscript were leaked on the internet.
Current debates
  • Categories for Discussion has a series of discussions about whether to categorize certain specific types of fictional characters: double agents, dictators, characters with eidetic memory, etc. Advice from any Novels project members would be valuable in assisting them.
  • WikiProject Media franchises aims to help editors with the coordination of articles within the thousands of media franchises which exist and has requested input from our members. They are currently discussing a naming convention for franchise articles. Since this may affect one or more articles in our Novel project, they would like to get opinions before implimenting any changes.
From the Members

With the Newsletter being almost three months overdue, I have decided to take on the position of Editor to make sure it reaches you regularly on time each month. The Newsletter is meant to inspire and encourage our team of Editors and so my goal shall be to make it informative and interesting each issue.

We now have many positions vacant in our Project Team, so we are looking for members who have the time and interest to take on the various roles, details of which can be found at the Job Centre. Shortly a Coordinator nominations notice shall also be sent out to all members, which will commence the annual Coordinator selection process.

Next month's Newsletter will include a message from our Coordinator Maria, who will introduce herself and speak on our forthcoming elections for extra Coordinators.

Our last newsletter's challenge The Pure Land was completed by our member Maclean25, who also provided us with tipline news for this newsletter.

  • The first person to start the article is mentioned in the next newsletter. This month's article is Leslie Ann Moore's first book in her fantasy 'Griffin's Daughter' trilogy, which was named by the Independent Book Publishers Association as the 2008 Ben Franklin Award winner for Best First Fiction, Griffin's Daughter.
Note: This article was previously deleted due to lack of notability, but that now can be established since winning this award.

File source problem with File:Wolf brother2.jpg

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Wolf brother2.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:45, 20 August 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 21:45, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Wolf brother2.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Wolf brother2.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 21:45, 20 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Wolf brother2.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Wolf brother2.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Courcelles 03:23, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 179th Tunnelling Company, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Thomas Shelby. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Classification of a page from 2008

[edit]

I recently ran across this Fenwick English that you'd put in a "B" classification for. I'm not as expert as you so I'm reluctant to change it. But is virtually no citations and it has text that describes the motivations of the subject and does not seem to have the unbiased approach that we look for. I'm suggesting another look at the classification. Harrelson3 (talk) 20:13, 30 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
