Infobox rugby union biography

[edit]

I notice you have been adding in Varsity Cup information in the rugby infoboxes recently. While I'm all for the idea that these are included, they are effectively club games and do not have First Class status. I've made a proposition on this talk page to include a new section called "Amateur team(s)", in which this information can be shown (as well as SARU Community Cup information and so on). Would you mind having a look and sharing your thoughts or ideas re this? I've also proposed a change to have a coloured title bar with a logo, similar to the infobox for other languages (eg. French and Afrikaans). Thanks in advance. TheMightyPeanut (talk) 19:48, 10 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Why are you changing templates from Infobox rugby biography to the older Infobox rugby union biography? Please discuss at the project page before continuing. noq (talk) 19:55, 14 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Template:Pumas rugby squad requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section T3 of the criteria for speedy deletion because it is an unused duplicate of another template, or a hard-coded instance of another template. After seven days, if it is still unused and the speedy deletion tag has not been removed, the template will be deleted.

If the template is not actually the same as the other template noted, please feel free to remove the speedy deletion tag and please consider putting a note on the template's page explaining how this one is different so as to avoid any future mistakes (<noinclude>{{substituted}}</noinclude>).

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page's talk page, where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Reversion of dates for statistics

[edit]

Hi mate!

I see what you mean and it does make sense. But i think you should read the "correct as of date" more like last time the player was active for this team. At least that's how it is interpreted for all rugby union players as well as caps and overall table etc. And it's better to keep it consistent. Also look at the Super Rugby dates it also shows last time a player played for the team and from an editing point of view it also makes sense because when you edit the caps/points that's when you change the correct as of date.

Also at first i just thought you edited the wrong date, as for both Dane Coles and Julian Savea pages, someone edited the caps/points but not the date.

Thanks for your feedback mate! Let me know what you think.

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Derek Carpenter, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Kamo. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Infobox rugby union biography vs Infobox rugby biography

[edit]

Re this:

Hi there,

Good day to you.

I wanted to run something past you, I hope it's ok.

I remember discussing with you a couple of years ago the merits of the Infobox rugby union biography, which I believe you may have created or updated to make fit for purpose. Anyway over the past 2-3 years all of the rugby pages I've created, largely Australian, New Zealand and Japanese players have used this format. These days I don't have time to edit as much as before, but I've noticed several users identified only by IP addresses have altered my original page to now contain Infobox rugby biography as opposed to Infobox rugby union biography in addition to some other pretty bizarre changes like altering, for example, my rut Hurricanes link to Wellington Hurricanes or rut Tasman to Tasman rugby union|Tasman.

I recently started reverting them back to the Infobox rugby union biography format, for example in Bryn Hall, Michael Fatialofa and Jack Goodhue's pages. There are a lot more that have been changed, such as Hamish Northcott, Otere Black and Kara Pryor.

What I wanted your opinion on was, do you think I can just go through these and revert them back to Infobox rugby union biography? Also other editors on the Australian and New Zealand pages seem to favour Infobox rugby biography, I think you and I agree that Infobox rugby union biography is a superior option, is there any way we can get others to share this view, for consistency's sake if nothing else.

Sorry for rambling, but I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Have a nice day!

JNicol

Hi there, JNicol. Obviously there was this discussion 2½ years ago to merge the two templates, but nothing has been done yet. Until then, I guess both of them will be used and that there isn't really a right or wrong answer to this... TheMightyPeanut (talk) 11:49, 31 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

OK, thanks,

I appreciate your thoughts.

Take care, JNicol

You'll be glad to hear that we finally have some movement! TheMightyPeanut (talk) 14:50, 21 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]
