RfA

[edit]

Sorry that it has to be this way, but I would strongly recommend withdrawing from your RfA. At this point, you will certainly not pass. I think it would be the best for you to withdraw this one and spare yourself any more of this. If you wait a few months, edit in admin areas more, and ease some of the opposers' concerns, you might have a shot next time. (X! · talk)  · @016  ·  23:23, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Seconding X!'s comments. Have you considered pursuing admin coaching? I believe you would greatly benefit from such an experience. Best, Dylan620 (contribs, logs) 23:36, 31 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Mario. I have, unfortunately, closed your RfA early as unsuccessful per WP:SNOW. Please do not be discouraged, this is not a rejection from the community - it is common for admins to pass on their third or fourth RfA! Either way work hard, and continue being a fantastic editor.

A tag has been placed on Bucharest Corporate Center requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. Romanian communes

[edit]

Hi. Noticed you created a lot of unreferenced articles on communes without infoboxes. Could you help me add an infobox/map and reference to each one of them? All you have to do it copy and paste the infobox, and change the relative link/pop figure. Can you help me? Dr. Blofeld White cat 17:34, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have nominated Paul Lasne, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Paul Lasne. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time.

Unreferenced footballer BLPs

[edit]

Hello Mario1987. I apologize for offending you. At the time I wrote that message, you did not understand Wikipedia's notability guidelines, and I should have done more to explain to you how to fix those articles rather than complain about the articles. I can see that you now understand the guidelines and have created properly referenced articles which are very helpful for WP:FOOTY.

I also know that I created many unreferenced BLPs when I was starting at Wikipedia. I have referenced as many as I can find, but I'm sure there are many left which are not referenced. Please feel free to reference any that you find, or just leave me a note at my talk page and I will be happy to do it.

If you check my contributions, you will notice that I have been trying (with several other editors) to reduce the backlog of unreferenced footballer BLPs over the past 8 months. I know I have referenced more than one thousand articles by now (I'm not bragging, I just explaining that there is a huge amount of work and that the editors working on it need help - check out WP:FOOTY/unreferenced BLP). If you would like to help, I know that we would appreciate that.

I hope you understand and accept my apology. Best regards. Jogurney (talk) 14:13, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hm

[edit]

Well, I glanced at the source, and it doesn't really seem to have any acknowledged publisher, let alone a stated editorial policy. Anybody can start a portal and name it "Satu Mare portal", but that's no guarantee of anything. In this case, the concern was not the info (which is quite harmless) but the proliferation of the link, in case it's a problem. I called for a better source because I'm sure one could be found with closer inspection, but since the source is borderline, yeah, what the hey...

Yes, Mario, you're right. I hate everything outside Bucharest, which is why I recently provided this project with its first decent article on a commune :). But seriously, man: I admire your tenaciousness and I encourage you to write more, but I also encourage you to write with more care - the only issue I take and will ever take with your work is when you don't, or at most when you write with excessive local patriotism (such as when you contribute what are still the only surviving articles on gymnasiums - trivia is trivia, even when it's Satu Mare trivia). Please, don't hold that against me. Dahn (talk) 14:31, 26 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Mmm and try to at least provide a reference and location.... Himalayan 10:34, 28 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Alex Somian

[edit]

An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Alex Somian. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alex Somian. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:37, 1 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sugestie

[edit]

Salut Mario!

Auschnitt

[edit]

Mario, I think it's time for a serious discussion about your sourcing of articles and how you use sources to create DYKs, because - as I believe I've shown in several of my past interventions - either that or you are willingly disrupting by misleading the readers into assuming that you researched you articles. First of all, the article you wrote claims to rely on one source - Enciclopedia României, which your citation says was published by Cugetarea in 1999. This proves that you did not so much as glanced at the book's cover: you would have found out that the 1999 book was not published by Cugetarea (which no longer existed after WWII), but by Saeculum and Vestala - as a reprint of the 1940 edition! Furthermore, you use this same source for Auschnitt's death, which came some 19 years after the original book was published! You also use the reprint of a 1940 source to claim that his estate was confiscated by the communist regime in 1948 (a claim which, incidentally, is entirely false - it was confiscated by the antisemitic regimes in power after 1940). In fact, I want to bet you only added the claims based on the Romanian version of the article, which uses the same flawed format, but without claiming to cite the source. In fact, most of the info there was added after Cugetarea had been added as a supposed sources, with no claim that the said info traces back to Cugetarea. Nothing you could say from this point on could convince me that you have actually read the material you present as a source, and the fact that you still don't understand the seriousness of sourcing after so many past incidents is perplexing. Please note: I actually wanted to expand the article with more content from reliable sources (some of which had already been cited by me here), when I happened to notice this. Given your past behavior, Mario, I'm becoming convinced that your main interest is getting as many articles approved for DYK or whatever else, without much concern for wikipedia norms, and rely on sheer number of edits to obtain self-serving recognition as a reliable editor. When nothing is reliable about this type of editing. Dahn (talk) 01:02, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I just notice you're aiming for an RfA. That should explain what the self-serving recognition I mentioned has for its ultimate purpose. Dahn (talk) 01:08, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Concerning this message of yours. First of all, there is nothing to "help" you with when you lie about sourcing, with an article which you expect will go on main page. God knows this is not the first major problem of sourcing I've found in your hooks, but it is the first case in which I've notice that you don't even shy away from lying. I also can track down your record because very request for review invites me too - you were caught sockpuppeteering, and you want to become no less than an admin after that incident.

As for your blatantly racist attack in Romanian and your "lower than hell" comment, you leave me with a choice of reporting you now or holding the message for future reference. Dahn (talk) 13:01, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

AN/I

[edit]

Hello, Bine Mai. This message is being sent to inform you that there currently is a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. Dahn (talk) 13:50, 12 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Perhaps if you showed a bit more respect to concerned editors like myself and Dahn and at least replied that you acknowledge the Romanian communes often have incorrect unreferenced data and need a lot of work or that your DYKs often don't use appropriate sources this would be something. As it stands you have failed to respond to me (on my old account) even when I have addressed it to you in a friendly mannerand basically I am having to do all the work in sorting them out as you create new stubs on people like Paul Lasne. You've done a lot of good work on here but I wish you would reply and discuss it. What was your source for the Romanian communes? The data doesn't match the official 2002 census site. Himalayan 10:48, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Fair enough, I checked random articles on Romanian wiki and they had the data wrong compared to the official site. It is not the first time it has shown errors. Not your fault, but maybe consider using reliable sources in the future. Thanks, Himalayan 16:00, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

That is exactly what I mean. It looks much better now. If you could tackle that county anyway. I am pretty sure you would like to see good articles on all of the Romanian communes like myself but probably got side tracked my the sheer amount of other things to do on here, I understand, I've done that myself! I think though given that the communes of Romania make up the actual country itself we should gradually work towards getting them up to a minmum level, at least with an infobox/map and referenced data rather than one line unreferenced stubs. I do hope you can sort things out with Dahn. From my own point of view it does seem that you admitted your past mistakes with your sock accounts and said you wouldn't do it again. If you haven't done anything since this would easily be verified by an admin checking your ip address. I think you have a lot to offer wikipedia and appreciate your enthusiasm and contributions to the project, sometimes though try to be a little more cautious and acknowledge that other editors may be concerned... I don't think blocking you would be on the cards unless you have done something to seriously violate policy again although comments about gypsies and regional varitations probably don't help the cause. Regards. Himalayan 16:11, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well I look forward to working towards it with you gradually, obviously it won't be done overnight but we can certainly try to work through a county within each week or ten days perhaps and split the workload. At least then they have the basics in place and gives us something to work with. I've always been impressed with your enthusiasm for wikipedia and I know you mean good faith in editing but occasionally I have been concerned about your sourcing, so if you are permitted to continue I hope you can try to ensure your articles use reliable sources in the future. Best regards and hope things improve on here... Himalayan 16:21, 13 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]
