Creation Audio

[edit]

Creation Audio is a recording studio in Minneapolis, MN. Originally built in 1914 as the Garrick Theater, it was bought and converted in 1955 by a then unknown Bruce Swedien [1]. Swedien operated the studio under the moniker "Swedien Recording" until he moved to Chicago, IL to work under Bill Putnam at Universal Recording. The studio has had different names and owners over the years, including: Univerals Audio,Kay Bank Recorders, Mic-Side, Cookhouse and Twin/Tone.[2]

Although the layout has been altered over time, the building has remained in constant operation as a recording studio since Swedien's initial conversion.
