I think this page should continue to redirect to Wikipedia:Votes for Deletion. We already have VFD as a redirect to that other thing. — Timwi 11:42, 2 Mar 2004 (UTC)

I agree. VfD is a very commonly used shortcut and there is no reason Vacuum fluorescent display would ever be written as VfD. Angela. 17:01, Mar 2, 2004 (UTC)
Angela... you seem to have confused this page (vfd) with (VfD).
Well spotted. Ignore my above comment. Still, Vacuum fluorescent display is never likely to be written as vfd either is it? Angela. 22:37, Mar 2, 2004 (UTC)
Probably not. I agree that vfd should redirect to votes for deletion. Perl 22:39, 2 Mar 2004 (UTC)
If you think people will bother to capitalize things when they should, you are sorely mistaken. Have you reviewed your email or irc lately? (irc or IRC?) People all-caps things, people no-caps things. Redirecting this page to Votes for Deletion will just cause confusion if they alternately caps and not caps, or if they never capitalize. The VFD page is a disambiguation page, so just list Votes for Deletion there. 132.205.15.42 17:05, 27 Sep 2004 (UTC)
I also believe that this redirect should link to Wikipedia:Votes for deletion; it is needed much more often than any other meaning of the abbreviation. (EuroTom asked you to discuss the issue here and not to just edit the page.) I offer a compromise: this page should still redirect to VfD, with VfD having a link to the disambiguation page at the top. After all, the link to the disambiguation page already exists in the VfD page. -- Mike Rosoft 19:20, 27 Sep 2004 (UTC)
It also causes confusion amongst those who are looking for some other vfd or Vfd. There is no link on the Votes for deletion page indicating where the disambiguation page is. And since Votes - for - deletion are three words, VFD could equally be expected as the acronym, or VD for that matter, dropping the less important for. VfD also suffers from this problem, though I agree that it is much less likely that that would be not for Votes...' 132.205.15.4 03:26, 30 Sep 2004 (UTC)

Now that VFD is a disambiguation page (not just to Vacuum fluorescent display), and in particular has a link to Wikipedia:Votes for Deletion, it should now be better to redirect this to VFD (thus keeping the namespaces properly separated). Since this isn't used much as it is, I'll do that now. -- Toby Bartels 00:44, 19 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Timwi, Angela and Perl - much more useful as a short-cut to Wikipedia:Votes for Deletion. (The disambiguation doesn't even have a direct link to Votes for Deletion). Please get agreement here before reverting to the disambiguation page. -- EuroTom 12:32, 19 May 2004 (UTC)[reply]

We don't want to list Wikipedia:Votes for deletion on a disambiguation page in the article namespace. This would constitute a link from the article namespace to the Wikipedia namespace, which is forbidden by policy. A redirect, on the other hand, is perfectly OK because it is trivial to filter out automatically from the database dump should you ever want to. — Timwi 13:03, 28 Sep 2004 (UTC)
