Michael O'loughlin
Mickey's performance in the 2005 final cannot and should not be dismissed. It is a slightly complex issue. If his kicking has been as accurate as his marking had been strong, he would have been a shoe-in for the Norm Smith medal. The fact that it wasn't kept the West Coast Eagles in the game, and by end of the afternoon he certainly seemed to suffer a crisis of confidence in his kicking that led him to try to give off shots at goal he would normally have taken. As currently written the article just makes it sound as if he had a shocker, which just isn't true. In a game as tight as that was, you could argue he produced a match winning performance. I will return when I have more time to think about the right words to sum the matter up. I believe the word "inaccurate" is likely to appear. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.193.236.188 (talk) 04:44, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
The article currently has a sub-heading "Positions" which lists Mickey's positions like this:
Left/right Forward Pocket (regulary) Centre Half Forward left/right Half Forward Flank (rarely)
My initial reaction to this was to add "Full forward" to the list, since this is where Mickey has played most of his football for most of the last couple of seasons.
My second reaction was to note that for most his career he played on the half forward flank, so that "(rarely)" was actually a bit misleading.
My third reaction was that he hasn't played a lot of football as a Centre Half Forward. It is not unknown, but he is not known as a Centre Half Forward like, for instance, Wayne Carey or Barry Hall.
My final reaction was that it is probaly better to omit the section entirely, given that the article already states he has played most of his football as a "forward". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 210.193.236.188 (talk) 01:30, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
